You saw Ford, and you ran to him.
At first, he let out loud laugh that sounded familiar.
And then, you woke up.
Your head shifted around to see the walls of the room, and your body shuffled upwards to lay against the wall behind you. There was a tingling sensation everywhere in your body, including your face. Still, you couldn't move your legs.
"Ford?" You called out weakly, and after a few moments he came scrambling up the stairs and tumbled into the attic room. His hair was tangled, and his glasses were lop-sided against his face.
"You're awake!" He panted, and sat on the edge of the bed next to you. "can you move?"
You nodded. "I can...except my legs..." You had an odd feeling, so you grinned while your face flushed. "how long was I out this time?"
Now, he fixed his glasses. "I suspected it would take a week before you could use your muscles again, but it was actually a couple of days! It may take another day before your legs come back to life, though," he chuckled.
"Wow." Your jaw was agape, and you wriggled your nose to try and attempt to get rid of the pins and needles in your face. But no, it wouldn't budge.
"Hey...by the way, I wanted to thank you. For taking a slime ball for me, ya' know?" He let out a long sigh, and he scratched the back of his messy hair.
"Oh, pfft. No problem. I guess that's what paranormal partners do, right?" You rolled your eyes jokingly, and you sat up farther to lean up fully against the wood wall. It took you a moment, but you bit your lip and quietly said, "I'm sorry, Ford. I didn't mean to push you like that...to tell me about your past and all. I respect your decision on telling me or not."
He turned to face you with heavy eyelids. "It's fine...I might as well tell you now, anyway," he cleared his throat as his eyes averted from yours. "My brother, Stanley and I were very close back then...when we were kids. We did everything together. We even found a wrecked boat in a cave and called it the Stan O' War!" He laughed, but it soon subsided. "Until one day in high school the principal called me in and said that I could be accepted into a university for the science fair project I did...but stupid Stanley, he had to crush my dream into being in that school!" Ford exclaimed, his teeth gritting once again.
You quietly raised a hand, and laid it on top of his. He looked at you questioningly.
"I'm so sorry, Ford. I really am for you." You looked deep into his dark eyes, and he smiled.
"Thank you."((Shortshortshortshort. I know. ;-;))
