You looked out the window, and saw the bright colours of orange, yellow, and red.
Is it already evening?
You thought and shook your head, wheeling back on your chair to your desk full of papers with different unsolved cryptograms. In the middle of the large desk, lay a book called 'Abnormalities of the World'. You flipped through the book, trying to find a page on deciphering cryptograms. No such luck. It was hard being a Paranormal Investigator.
A loud knock was heard from downstairs, breaking through your thoughts.
"(Y/n)!" A voice called out. It was your mom.
You immediately jumped out
of your seat, and ran downstairs smiling. She had been back from her 4 day work trip, and promised to visit you when she came back from her flight."Hi, mom!" You hugged her, and she laughed.
"It's so nice to be back in Seattle again," she said and closed her eyes while inhaling dramatically.
"I bet it is..." You approached her, and started to grin. "How was it? The interview?" You asked, your ears eager to listen to your mother's voice. She had gone to Gravity Falls to interview people about the weirdness that's been going on.
"It wasn't bad at all. But it sure is..." Your mother cocked her head to the side, looking right back at you while you leaned on the kitchen island. "Strange. I must say- oh! I forgot..."
Your mother pointed a finger to her bag on a chair, and pulled out a postcard of Gravity Falls. She handed it to you, and you held the rectangular paper in your hands for a moment, taking in the features and pictures of it.
"Thank you," you said, and stuck it in the back pocket of your (f/c) jeans. It was silent, and you looked back up at your mother. She was smiling.
"(Y/n), I know you can't stay up in that room for your whole life. Instead of reading books, and trying to decrypt messages or whatever, go out and discover things!" Your eyes widened at what she said. You've always been a nervous nelly about getting out there and solving mysteries, and your mother knew it. Something was up. She wouldn't just say anything out of the blue like that.
"Why are you saying this, mom?" You crossed your arms and gave her a look. She started to fumble around with her fingers in front of you.
"Well...I kind of found another Paranormal Investigator like you in Gravity Falls?" Her nervous tone made your jaw drop.
"You, what?!"
You couldn't believe it. Without your permission, your mother went and 'got a job' for you.Great.
You rested a hand on top of you eyes, and leaned up against the kitchen island again, waiting for what your mother had to say next.
"He says he would like to meet you. Don't worry, he really seems like a nice and smart guy."
You let out a groan, and your mother dangled a plane ticket in front of your face.
There was no way out of this.Gravity Falls, here I come.
