Chapter 8

I tried slipping out of school without bumping into Jayden. But just my luck, I managed to do just that. Word had spread that me and Alex were now an item. I could easily deny it. It wasn't true after all. If anything, Alex was flirting with me and I simply pushed his words away. But the fact that I was even near him, made me feel like I was cheating on Jayden. Am I cheating on Jayden? Are we an item? I'm attracted to Alex, despite my head telling me he's a jerk... I was. I am. So for now, the plan is to push away my lust for Alex and concentrate on my obvious feelings for Jayden. He's a great guy... which made me feel ten times worse, having unfavourable thoughts on some other guy.

     "H-Hey," I stuttered.

He grabbed my hand and let me outside and into the parking lot. He shifted closer to me and frowned at someone behind me. I looked around to see students, slowing down their pace to watch the two of us. They felt the thick tension in the air. Everyone had heard about what Alex said during lunch and made their own assumptions up. A girl, a year younger than me, had even asked whether Alex was good in bed or not.

"I heard a rumour today about you...?" he said nervously. It wasn't him to confront people; he was more of a chilled, laid-back guy.

I smiled reassuringly at him. "Which isn't true. I don't know exactly what you heard but, I'm not going out with Alex."

"That wasn't actually the rumour..." he trailed off guiltily. My eyes hardened at him.

"What? That I'm having sex with him? Is that what you wanted to ask me? I would have thought that out of anyone, YOU would know I'm not that type of girl."

"No, no! It's just that when it comes to girls, he's really-" he said nervously, rubbing his neck.

He too darn sweet, I don't think I could ever be mad at him. I should know that he means well, in all this. I sighed and cut him off, placing my finger over his lips. "I'm sorry. I over-reacted."

"Yeah, so did I," he grinned sheepishly.

I looked around to see more people watching us. I raised an eyebrow up at them, but they clearly didn't understand. "Looks like we've got an audience," I murmured.

"Then let's make it official," he whispered, grin still firmly in place.

I almost laughed at what he said, before I caught sight of Rose's familiar dark long hair; walking by and catching my eye with a shocked expression. I smirked and leaned in to meet his lips and kissed him hard. He kissed me back, before slowly ending the kiss and leaning away. I frowned at him for cutting it short, but he melted me with his boyish grin and I ended up smiling with him. He wrapped his arm loosely around my waist and led me out of the crowd.

The next day, was pretty hectic. Word had gotten around that Jayden and I were a couple. Jay wasn't at school and neither were Alex and Rose. I tried to hide my envy at that. The fact that Jayden and Rose, just so happened to be 'sick' on the same day. But so was Alex...and didn't Jay hate him? Well, dislike him. No, that's me. Jay hasn't said anything about not liking him...at all. Maybe they're secret besties! He know's I don't like him, which is probably why he didn't tell me about his bromance. Haha, bromance. I crack myself up. But why would Alex tell me to stay away from Jayden. Oh my god. Alex IS gay. They DO have some sort of bromance going on. My boyfriend's gay!

I carried that thought all through school. Let me tell you, the amount of stares I got for spacing out randomly, were uncanny.

"Mum, I'm home!" I shouted, as I dropped my bag on the kitchen counter.

On que, she walked into the kitchen and poured a glass of orange juice for me. I frowned at the glass, as she removed her mobile headset out from under her glossy red locks. I'm jealous of her hair, l'lI admit it. It's so shiny...

"Again? I could've gotten my own drink," I said.

"You could've. But we both know you would've gone straight for the bottle of Coke and it's bad for you, sweetie. Orange juice is much healthier!"

"I know..." I sighed. When my mother's at home, she's like a healthy Nazi or something. She's even gone to the extent to chuck away all the junk food in the house. Which Aaron and I have argued is just wasting money. She has a thing about wasting money. Predictably, we both go crazy when are parents aren't around.

"Oh, I've made a lasagna  for you both. Your father and I are going out tonight for some dinner for the company. It's quite a drive, so we'll probably be back pretty late. You have school tomorrow, so make sure you don't stay up too late."

"Yes, mum," I said automatically, fakely smiling.

The rest of the night was pretty normal, I was in the middle of re-watching 'Child's Play'. I don't care about how much it scares me. I love watching horror movies. Beats romance and all that, by a landslide. I was just at an interesting part, when the doorbell rang. Pausing the movie, I headed towards the front door, and noticed Aaron already standing there. Jeese, can't the guy wear a shirt or something? I turned on my heel, to go back to watching my movie when Aaron suddenly called me.

"What's up?" I asked, walking back to the door.

He glared at me and then to whomever was at the door, from under his messy dark auburn hair. I cocked an eyebrow and moved closer towards him to see who it was. Alex, damn this is going to be awkward. I'm attracted to a guy...that's not my boyfriend, but also happens to be secretly going out with my 'so-called' boyfriend. I don't know whether to be pissed or be upset...or confused.

"Some guy's here for you. I was gonna head out....but I think I'm just going to stay in, instead."

I pulled Aaron away from the door and whispered. "Don't worry. He's gay."

Aaron sputtered and ran upstairs; probably to grab a t-shirt or something. I inwardly laughed and walked back to the door, to see a wide-eyed Alex. I guess I wasn't as quiet as I thought.

"What?" Alex whispered in shock, furrowing his eyebrows. He didn't think I could work it out, now did he? Hah, take that!

Aaron promptly jogged down the stairs and past us and into an old Ford park out front. Least he can say is 'bye', but I suppose he's just embarrassed or something from his half nakedness with Alex.

Alex walked inside and shut the door behind him. I took a step back and raised an eyebrow. This is my house and I don't think I invited him in. He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall behind him.

"I don't think I invited you in...?" I said mimicking him.

He smirked. "We need to talk."

"About?" I said impatiently. I'm not usually like this, there's just something about him that riles me up.

"You and Jayden," he said, his eyes taking on a serious edge.

     Oh boy. This'll be interesting.

A/N: I'm so so sooo sorry guys for the late chapter post. I'm also sorry to say that now that I've gone back to school, I won't be updating as much. Late start, I know, but now that I'm on crutches there's no reason for me to be at home. Anyways, maybe a chapter every 1/2 weeks. Sorry guys!  If you're reading this, please comment or something. I understand that there are a lot of silent readers, but just one word or something could help enthuse me to update more often. Oh and when I mentioned 'Coke' earlier, I meant 'Coca Cola'...lol, not the illegal stuff ;P
