A/N: In case you didn't notice (in which case, you're really not observant lol) I changed the cover image. Got bored so decided to have an attempt at making a cover myself. What'cha think? Lol, remember to read the author's note at the bottom.

Chapter 13

The morning went by slowly. We sat silently on opposite ends of the couch watching old 'Friends' re-runs. The whole ordeal was awkward, but I don't exactly blame him for feeling awkward around me. Heck, even I would feel awkward around me!

Around noon, I finally found the silence almost suffocating. I wanted to talk to him. I wanted to hear his voice. But he would talk to me soon. When he's comfortable. I found solace in the kitchen, deciding on making us both lunch. I snuck a glance at Jay as I walked slowly towards the bread bin. As I took out the slices of bread and placed them on a plate, the doorbell suddenly rang. I sighed and went to open the door. Jayden turned to look at the door, in curiosity.

I opened the door and stood facing a pair of large black sunglasses. "Violet! Hey"

"Rose? Uh, hi. What brings you here?" I asked trying to make my words light, but I couldn't help the hard undertone.

"I just thought I'd stop by. Alex told me you know about," she leaned towards me and whispered, "us."

"Um...yeah. I do." I said as she leaned away. "Do you want to come in?"

She turned around looking into the distance. "Okay. Alex'll be here in a bit. He just went to park the car down the road."

I moved to the side to let her in and bit my lip. "A-Alex is here?"

She nodded and made herself comfortable on one of the sofas. Thankfully not next to Jayden. I hesitantly closed the door and glanced at Jayden to see he had a relived expression planted on his face. I suppose a third person would make this situation more bearable. But a fourth? Most importantly, Alex? The source? No.

"I'm just going to finnish up with lunch..." I lied.

They ignored me, already immersed in a conversation. I frowned. I slipped around the corner and quietly opened the front door just as Alex was walking up the driveway. I slowly closed the door behind me and folded my arms.

     "What are you doing here?"

"You don't want me here?" He cocked an eyebrow and mimicked my pose. "I thought we were friends?"

"We are." I paused and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "I think."

     He laughed lightly. "You think?"

"Friends don't kiss each other like that."

He took a few steps towards me and entwined his fingers between mine. My body heated dramatically as I felt the oh' so familiar flow of electricity through my body. I looked at our hands; biting back a gasp and avoiding his penetrating gaze.

He leaned closer and whispered in my ear. "We're special friends."

With all my willpower, I untangled my fingers from his. I pushed him back slightly and met his gaze; my hands still lingering on his torso.

"I told Jayden about what happened." I bit my lip and dropped my hands. "He doesn't deserve any of this and...I really want to make our relationship work."
