Chapter 2
The rest of the day flew by in a blur. Now when I say a 'blur', I mean a 'blur'. I could barely remember what happened all day, besides the short encounter I'd had with Alex. I kept thinking about what he said over and over in my head. He wanted me to 'stay away from Jayden'. Why the hell would he want that? Jay was one of my best friends. I didn't see him or his sister the rest of the day. Embarrassing to admit, I was actually looking for them. Kathy had talked about how cool Rose was during class and how hot Alex is; despite the fact that he had 'taken' her seat.... and Jayden? Well, he didn't talk to me for the rest of the day. Does he know someone's wrong? Maybe Alex stalked him and shared his stalker-ish thoughts on how I should stay away from him. Does he think I would stop being his friend or something? I'm getting way too paranoid lately.
I headed towards the car park in search for Jayden's cherry red, pick up truck. I sighed after circling the park lot to no avail. The truck clearly stood out, in the company of sleek black, grey and blue convertibles. If I hadn't seen it at first glance, why would I see it now? His car was gone. I headed out through the school gates and started on my long walk home. Jayden has a lot of explaining to do, he never leaves without me. No matter how late I am... and I'm god damn early for once!
As I walked further and further, I started to feel the downfall of the warm weather. The humidity. Making it harder to breathe with every pant of exhaustion. A loud honk caught my attention and I pulled my gaze to the road. I see a red car.
Jay's going to- I cut my thoughts off. That's not his car. Although it was almost the exact same colour, this car was far sleeker and expensive. The driver side window sank down and I saw Rose, smiling at me.
"Need a ride?" she asked.
I looked quickly through the windows and saw empty seats; I wondered where Alex was. I actually felt a little disappointed knowing he's not in the car too. I gave her a small smile and made my way closer to the car.
"That would be great, thanks" I say.
"Hop in," she said, before closing her window.
As I slowly made my way into the passenger seat, a strong leather aroma filled the car. I placed my black messenger bag limply on my lap and turned to look at Rose.
"Thanks again."
"No problem. Walking in this weather must be torture," she laughed.
"You have no idea," I mutter.
"So, where to?"
"Manor Road... you know it?" I asked.
"Really? We live just a road down from you then, " she said with a smile.
Alex's absence in the car, burned me with curiosity. It was only his and his sister's first day. What could he be doing?
"So...Where's Alex?" I asked finally.
"Oh... He had to talk to a teacher about some work. He doesn't mind walking," she said keeping her eyes firmly on the road ahead.
"Work? But he just got here," I said, scrunching my eyebrows in confusion.
"Well, Alex likes to get ahead in his work..." she trailed off, her hand gripping the steering wheel tightly.
I played with my bag strap on my lap and gnawed on my lip, sensing the awkwardness. I saw her glance at me, out of the corner of her eye and I looked up to meet her gaze.
"We haven't properly met yet. I'm Rose...as you probably know from English," she laughed.
I smiled at and laughed with her. "Nice to meet you Rose, I'm Violet."
I turned my gaze to the front and saw her park besides a curb just outside my house. How did she get here so fast? Which brings me to wonder.... How did she know what house I lived in? Huh, I thought I only mentioned the road name. Damn, I'm just going crazy here.
"Thanks for the ride," I said as I opened the car door and stepped back out into the humid air.
"I'll see you tomorrow," she smiled.
"See you then," I smiled back before closing the car door and making my way to the front door.
Jay's got a lot of explaining to do, when I get my hands on him.
(Third Person POV)
A strong musky smell of smoke and alcohol filled the air of the shady, low-budget bar. Both males eyed each other up and down, judging the latter's moves and motives. A caramel coloured, bald barman slouched heavily on his chair, asleep and snoring. He lay their only company in the bar.
"I know who you are..."
"Doesn't take brain science. So do I."
"I meant....I know that you're her guardian."
"Yes, I am. As soon as our bond is activated, you'll be reasigned. So you should hide your obvious heartache and start packing. It's been a while since we've met. Her emotions will become worse as each day passes. You and I both know that."
"But I've JUST got here! I've JUST met her! It's too soon..."
"It's been long enough. Take it up with the elders. When I kiss her, it'll be official."
"Not if I beat you to it..."
"Go ahead. Anything she feels towards you will be insignificant once we connect."
Both males shared a long hard look, before walking out the bar and into the bright daylight of the long humid day that had changed everything for them.

A/N: Guys, I'm so so so sooo sorry I haven't updated in a while! Long story short, I got hit by a car. I'm fine though, just a few broken bones ;B Taking my A-Levels this year....scary :L But luckily, my sixth form are nice enough to send work home. So just been working, sleeping, eating....the usual.
