Chapter 3
Why is it that the guy you most likely want nothing to do with...still happens to be the guy you can't stop thinking about?
I had avoided Jayden all morning, despite his eager attempts to try and catch my eye during lessons. Which I made an obvious statement to avoid. Trying to actually avoid speaking to him was much easier today than it would be any other day. Today was a Friday and like every Friday, there was yet another party he was invited to. He would be caught up in all the commotion of the 'rare', oh so joyful event like everyone else.
Despite our constant exams, my classmates had made it a weekly ritual to throw a party every Friday. Someone different every week, of course. I say classmates, because I happened to be one of the few people who had yet to throw a party. It wouldn't exactly be hard. Aaron could always help plan it, but from experience I know not to trust him to stay sober when he's at a party. Without Aaron I wouldn't be able to handle the actual responsibility of a party. Sure it wasn't exactly like on TV. The booze, sex and violence wasn't so extreme, but they're not exactly... mild either.
"Vi... Wait!" Jayden panted, running through the hallway.
I stopped walking and turning to face him; curiously glancing at the plain white box in his hand. He caught me staring at the small box and grinned.
"I'm sorry I left without telling you," he said, handing me the box and running a hand nervously through his shaggy hair.
I slowly opened it to find a single, glazed Krispy Kreme staring up at me. The circular top had the words 'I'm sorry' in multicoloured sprinkles. I smiled widely and took a deep bite out of the doughnut.
"Forgiven already?" he laughed.
"You KNOW this is my weakness. Damn you!" I mock glared, waving the half eaten doughnut in his face.
"I've got an essay due last period. So I'll be in the library untill then. Meet me there? You know I suck at Chemistry," he smiled sheepishly.
"Which makes me wonder why you're taking it in first place," I sighed. "Sure... I'll meet you there in a bit. I just need to talk to one of my teachers."
We both made to leave, and I headed to Mrs. Smith's room. I turned a sharp corner and walked straight into just the boy who hadn't left my thoughts since the day he got here. I stumbled and he smoothly placed his hands on my shoulders; steadying me. His hand burned me through my jacket, ironically causing a deep shiver to erupt down my body.
"Whoa! Someone's eager," he smirked.
"You wish," I muttered, my face flushed.
I stepped out of his reach and avoided his eyes, as I made my way past him. He easily caught my arm and turned me to face him again. My gaze drifted straight to his tattoo peaking out from under his plain black t-shirt and I unintentionally stepped closer to his body; catching a familiar whiff of mint and leather.
"I need help with an errand and I thought you could help me..." he said.
"I'm sure you can easily find someone else. I'm busy," I said bluntly, trying to hide how much I did actually want to go with him.
