Forbidden Mates Ch. 11

Rose's P.O.V.

When I felt that I had plenty of clothing, Hunter and I left the mall and back to his truck. We got back to his house and he helped me carry the bags inside.

Hunter made it to his bedroom before I did. When I got there, I dropped the bags on the floor and yawned.

"Man, I'm beat. I think I might take a nap." I say.

Hunter takes the bags off the bed and he motions for me to come over. I walk towards him.

"Get in bed then." He says.

I sat on the bed, take off my shoes and socks and then I pulled away the covers. I stood up and noticed that Hunter was holding clothing in his hand.

"This is for you to wear." He says.

"Thank you." I say grabbing them.

I went into the bathroom, closed the door and quickly got changed. I opened the door and walked out heading towards the bed. I got in, pulling the blanket over me.

"Are you getting in too?" I ask.

"If you want me too." He replies.

The light gets turned off, the bedroom door shuts, and then Hunter gets in the bed lying beside me. I moved close to him for some odd reason.

"So I was wondering..." I trial off.

"About what?" He asks.

"Does it hurt?" I ponder.

Hunter's P.O.V.

I was confused at the question Rose had asked me.

"I'm not sure I understand the question." I tell her.

"When you...you know, when you shift." She mumbles.

Ah, so she was curious.

"No it doesn't. Why do you ask?" I question her.

Was she wanting to see my wolf or was she just curious?

"Do you think I could possibly see him?" She asks.

"Of course you can." I reply.

"How about now?" Rose asks getting into a sitting position on the bed.

"How about we take a nap first?" I respond.

She lies back down and pouts. I pull her towards me; she wraps an arm around me and lays her head on my chest. I reached out with my right arm and rubbed her back. She must've fallen asleep at some point because I could hear her light snores.

I tried to fall asleep when I heard Rose call out my name.

"What's wrong?" I whisper.

I didn't want to talk loudly just in case she was actually asleep. I didn't receive a response from her, so I figured she was sleep talking.

I soon fell asleep myself but I don't think I went into deep sleep. I was jolted awake when I felt a breath on my cheek. I looked to the right and saw Rose staring at me.

"Can I help you?" I ask.

She just smiles at me and it was then that I noticed her small bruise on her cheek had changed colors. I reached out with my left hand and lightly touched her cheek. I noticed that she flinched a little.

"What happened to your cheek?" I ask trying to contain my anger.

A tear slides down from her eye and then another follows soon she was crying. My anger disappears and I immediately felt like an asshole for asking.

"My brother Aiden." She whispers.

Anger rose up inside of me again.

"Did your parents do anything about it?" I ask.

She just shakes her head.

"And why not?" I question.

"Because their dead." She sobs.

My anger subsides as I pulled her towards me.

"I am so sorry." I say.

I didn't know what to do other than to hold her in my arms. I feel Rose shift in my arms so I let her go. A single tear escapes from her eye so I catch it with my hand. I pull my hand away after it lands on my index finger.

"Why don't we head downstairs and get something to eat?" I ask.

"Not hungry." She answers.

"If you eat at least something, we can do whatever you want." I say.

"Can I see your wolf after we eat?" She asks.
