I Wish

I wish I could change the world,

I wish I could change myself,

I wish I could take back every mean comment I've ever hurled,

I wish every problem could itself.

Wishing for a better day,

for a better night,

for people with only good things to say,

and for things to always go right.

But the hard truth can't be escaped,

things can't change with a wish alone,

someone has to work to affect how the world is shaped,

and we can't change the past but we can use the future to atone.
