Pieces of a torn letter
scatter around the room
her life was just getting better
and now this,
like a bomb
leaving nothing behind,
a past mistake came back
and her dreams left
all because of five words:
I know what you did.
And the shock
as she turned on the news
was like an electric chair,
BODY FOUND
the caption of the story,
she wondered if this was,
Her punishment for being naive
and thinking that she
truly deserved to be free.
