I sat in the house beside Leonard for hours, and hours, waiting for something dramatic to happen. Waiting for something inside me to change. Waiting, and waiting to turn dark. But nothing changed, and the longer I waited the less and less I believed that I was actually going to turn. I was kept away from the other members of the light, because Morgan Freeman claimed I would turn them all dark along with me, but Leonard refused to be away from me, and so they let him stay. Finally, after days of nothing happening, Leonard decided to take me to the Enlightenment council so I could be cleared and I could be a part of society again. We had to walk through the crowded town centre where we were judged by the likes of many, but I didn’t really care. All I wanted to do was be cleared so I could live a happy life again.
When we reached the Council, I was told I had to go to the witch doctor to be cleared before I entered. So Leonard and I took off to see her. Her headquarters was on top of a mountain, so it took quite the trek. As soon as she saw me in the entrance to her cave, she looked up and smiled.
“You’re bright,” she smiled, “You were the one they said would go dark. But you are bright.”
“I don’t understand,” I said to her, “How is this possible that I haven’t turned dark?”
She said nothing, but she pointed to Leonard.
“Leonard?” I asked, “Is it something to do with him?”
“Your souls are connected,” she explains, “And he has enough light within him for the both of you. Light is the stronger power at the moment, since you retrieved the rose, and so his light overpowers any darkness within you. His love, overpowers the hate that got into you.”
I turned to Leonard, and he turned to me, and we both sighed in relief.
“Back to the council we go then,” Leonard smiled.
“Bless you, beautiful couple.” Said the Witch Doctor.
“Thank you very much for your help,” I said to her.
I began walking down the hill back towards the village but Leonard stopped me.
“One second,” he said, “I need to tell you something.”
“Yes?” I said, looking at him, confused.
“I’m really glad I have you in my life.”
“Same Leonard, same. I owe my life to you, you little punk.”
“How are you ever going to repay me for that?” he laughed.
He put his arm around me, and we walked back towards the village together this way, laughing with each other as we went on our way. I was glad I had him, I truly was.
