Falling For The Vampire

Chapter 15

Connor didn't come back after he left. Even though he told me not  to leave the room I did anyway. I was worried something happened. Running outside I saw him laying on the ground. Kane was standing above him with one of his feet on his chest and he held a wooden stake. I ran towards them wondering where Mariah and Dylan were. Everything was moving in slow motion. Before I knew it I was hovering over Connor and the stake was in me and not Connor. I fell on my back on the ground and felt the blood gush out of me. My eyes began to get heavy. I began floating and then wind was being pressed against my face. Suddenly the smell of sanitizer and iv fluids hit me. Whoever arms I'm in took me to a freaking hospital.

"What's wrong with her?", a female voice asked.

"She was hit with something and began bleeding terribly", a familiar voice replied.

That was Connor's voice. He's okay thank god.

"Her name?", the female voice asked.

"Sage", Connor replied.

My breathing began go slower and I felt my eyes drop but I fought for them to stay open.

"Alright we'll take her from here", a male voice said.

I was set on a bed and wheeled down to the O.R. A few needles was stuck in me and a mask was set on my face.

"Okay Sage were gonna do a simple procedure to make sure that no organs are damaged. Doctor Winu the medicine", a nurse said.

"Alright there will be some medicine going through the mask and into your nostrils that'll make you sleep. Just relax and this'll be over before you know it", another nurse said.

Before I could say anything I was sleeping...

Connor's POV

I had called Mariah when a nurse took me to the waiting room. Sage could die because of me. I'm not safe for her to be around.

"Where is she", Mariah asked.

"Getting surgery done. I need you to do me a favor", I replied.

"What is it?", she asked.

"I need you to keep Sage away from me. I want you to protect her. I'm not safe for her to be around", I replied.

"You're leaving her?", she asked.

"I have no choice Mariah. This happened because of me. She wouldn't be in this situation if we never met. If we never caught feelings for each other she wouldn't have to worry if she's gonna live to see the next day. I can't let her live like this", I replied.

"She can't live without you", she said.

"She's gonna have to. It's the only way to keep her safe", I said.

"Alright. When you gonna tell her?", she asked.

"When they bring her back from surgery", I replied.

"Okay. Call me when she gets back", she said.

"Will do", I said.

She walked off with her long brown hair practically flying behind her. This won't be easy...

A few hours later they took Sage into the room across from the waiting room.

"Is anyone here to see Sage?", the doctor asked.

Besides me there was one other person. I walked forward and nodded.

"That would be me", I replied.

"Excellent. Follow me across the hall but don't go in I need to talk to you", he said.

I followed him out the room and across the hall.

"Is she okay?", I asked.

"She's gonna be okay but some wood was stuck in one of her organs and a small piece was lodged into the bottom part of her heart. We were able to remove it luckily but she's gonna be weak for a few days. Her strength should regain by next week", she said.

"Okay. Thank you", I said.

She nodded lightly and walked away to a different room. I can't leave her now. She needs me now. She's gonna depend on me to help her through this. If I don't I have to live with the burden. I pulled out my phone and dialed Mariah. She answered on the first ring. I explained everything and told her I wasn't gonna leave. She agreed that I shouldn't. I put my phone in my pocket and took a deep breath then walked in the room. She was worse than I imagined. Her body was pale and she looked weak. Her chest rose up and down softly. Her heartbeat was very faint on top of it all. Her eyes were closed and she had needles stuck in her arms and tubes up her nose.  I walked over to her and held her hand. It was cold like mine. Like she was dead.

"I'm so sorry Sage. This is all my fault. I just hope you can forgive me for all this", I said with a tear forming in my eye.

She opened her eyes and looked at me smiling. I smiled back at her and then let go of her hand.

"Connor it's not your fault", she said.

"Yes it is. You're in the hospital because of me. How are you gonna explain this to your dad?", I asked.

"I'll tell him I someone shot me on accident while I was out getting something", she replied.

"Sage admit it I'm no good for you", I said.

"Connor don't say that. Just because I got hurt doesn't mean your no good for me", she said weakly.

"I think we should wait to continue this relationship when you're healthy enough to go home", I said.

"What are you saying?", she asked.

"I'm not saying we're breaking up but just taking a break for a few days. I can't keep putting you in danger and especially when your sick", I replied.

"Turn me then", she said.

"I can't do that. Even if I wanted to I can't take your life from you", I said.

"Connor lets face it I'm not gonna make it. Just do it. If you love me you would do it", she said.

"Alright I'll do it. Lets just wait until you're healed enough", I said.

"How long until that happens?", she asked.

"A few days but I can speed up the process by giving you a little of my blood everyday", I replied.

"Do it. I'll do whatever it takes to get out of here", she said.

"It might not taste good to you but okay", I said.

I bit into my wrist and let some blood form of the surface of my skin. She took my wrist and began to take the blood that was on the surface. She pulled away quickly and my wrist began to heal.

"Tastes like salt water", she said.

"Well you're not one of us so its gonna taste gross. Just let that digest and you'll begin healing by tonight", I said.

"Okay. I love you", she said.

"I love you too", I said.

Hey guys so I have a crazy thought. What if after I finish this book and the series I'm writing and combined them? Like Vampire royalty meets non vampire royalty? Comment if you think that's a good idea. Also do you think Sage should turn or not? Comment your reason why. Bye guys!!!
