I put my books away and grabbed the books I needed for after lunch. My all time favorite part of the day. Sadly I have to eat in the same room as all the popular kids. At least I have Connor, Dylan and Mariah on my side in case they want to try something. Plus since they're... Right. They can't blow their secret. So they can't physically protect me. I sat down eating my sandwich quietly until one of the cheerleaders came over and looked at me like I was some plague. Then she spotted the ring and scoffed.

"Who in their right mind would marry let alone even go out with you? Wait don't tell me. Connor. Face it Sage. You can't give him what he wants. You're just a pathetic looser and everyone knows it. It's no wonder why you only have one friend", she said.

"Omg guess what? I can't understand anything you're saying because your tacky blonde hair extensions are distracting me. What happened did your hair fall out?", I asked.

"These are natural thank you very much. Besides Connor loves me and me only. He's just using you to make me jealous I just know it", she said flipping her hair.

"Your so fake even Barbie is jealous", I said.

"Your grandma called she wants her clothes back", she said.

"The 70's called they want their hairstyle back", I said.

"Face it Sage. You can never be as popular as I am. Your a pathetic loser and everyone hates you. You're gonna be alone forever while Connor and I are happily married. Now what you gonna do about that Miss Sassy?", she asked.

Every word she said wasn't true but I couldn't help but break down crying. I ran out the cafeteria and into the nearest girls bathroom. I then locked myself in a stall and hugged my knees up to my chest hoping I wouldn't fall in the toilet. She's right. I can't give him everything he wants. He deserves better than me and I actually thought it'd work. Nerds and popular kids aren't meant to mix. Life lesson learned. Soon the bell rang and I slowly walked out the stall. I looked in the mirror and my eyes were puffy. I heard familiar voices and heard Connor.

"She's in here I know it", he said.

"Are you sure? She doesn't cry and run to the bathroom. I bet it was one of the cheerleaders. They've all been jealous of her because she has you", Mariah said.

"I know she's in here. I know her scent and it's really strong", Connor said.

I ran out the bathroom and didn't look back. I ignored all the looks people gave me and voices calling my name. I reached the other side of the school without any trouble. I looked at my ring and threw it on the ground hoping Connor would find it. Then I slowly walked to my next class...

Whoa mean girls.
