Chapter 21

When school was over I walked to Sage's class and met her at the door. Her eyes were puffy and red like she'd been crying. She didn't make eye contact with me but I knew something was wrong with her. She'd never just walk away from me like this. She walked past me and I followed behind her. She forgot that I live with her now so she can't avoid me forever.

"Sage please talk to me", I said.

"Connor go away", she said.

"Not until you tell me what's going on", I said.

"Its nothing. Go away", she said.

"I'm your ride home remember?", I asked.

"Whatever. Take me home", she replied.

I nodded and did as she said. I can't force her to tell me what's wrong with her so I'm not going to. I drove us home and she ran into the house faster than you can say 'how was your day? Is everything okay?'. Even though I'm faster than her that's pretty much how fast she ran. I sighed turning the car off and locking the doors. I then laid the seat back and just sat there. I'm going to rip Maddie's throat out. I heard Sage crying in her room quietly. I took the ring out my pocket and looked at it. I can't give up now. I'm going in whether she likes it or not. I got out the car and locked the doors. Then went inside and in her room. She was laying on her bed with face in the pillow. She was still crying. I sat on her bed and she didn't look at me.

"Go away", she said.

"I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what Maddie said to you", I said.

She sighed and finally sat up. Her hair was sticking to her face. I moved her hair out her face and her eyes were red and puffy. Her face was red from all the crying.

"She told me I can't give you what you want. Connor I'm not gonna live forever and you won't turn me. I'm gonna get old and die someday and you'll just move on without hesitation. It's obvious Maddie wants you. Go be with her", she said.

I picked up her hand and slid the ring on her finger. I tilted her chin up and she met my gaze.

"I only want you Sage. I want us to be together forever. I'll turn you once I think the time is right and I'm not gonna let anything happen to you. I love you", I said.

"Turn me now", she said.

"I'll turn you after graduation", I said.

"Please. I'm ready", she said.

"After graduation. I love you", I said.

"I love you too", she said.
