No Pain, No Gain

I relaxed in the sun chair, playing on my phone. I had my Ray-Bans on, and I was actually getting a decent tan.  The dock was my only escape to the bickering girls, and I had actually snuck into the other cabin to sleep in peace.

Unfortunately, there was only so many places I could go on this island.

A horn blasted, and the cruise ship carrying the guys hit the dock. I cheered, then stood up, brushing off some of the splinters the deck chair held.

I stood at the end, right where the boat docked.

They slid off a ramp and onto the dock, whooping.

But then they landed too close, and I was knocked breathless to the docks' surface.

Soft lips pushed themselves against mine, and I smiled.

"Duncan! Get off me!" I laughed, pushing him off me.

"Alright," he sighs, standing up. He offers me a hand, and I accept it.

He tugs hard on it, and he pulls me into his chest.

He smelled exceptionally clean, and of after shave.

"I missed you while I was gone," he mutters, kissing the top of my head.

"Me too. I was tired of hearing them bitch around."

"So, you said you loved me?"

I blushed a deep red. "Yes. I meant it."

He tilted my chin up, smiling. "I love you too."

I'm about to kiss him, until Chris's voice crackles over the PA.

"Listen up campers! As of right now, the teams have been merged! Additionally, there has been a few camper additions."

We look towards the dock, and I gasp.

Not her.

Not again.

It's Eva, in all her glory.

Duncan stiffens, his arms still wrapped around me.

"It's Eva! And also, Izzy!"

She comes swinging on a vine, cackling.

I hide behind Duncan, shivering from Eva.

"SO, I see Little Ms. Punk is gone?!"

"Well, if you look behind her boyfriend, Duncan, you'll probably find her." snorts Heather.

I groan.

She walks over to me, snorting.

"Hi there." I squeak.

She gives me a nod, then starts to verbally abuse Bridgette.

"Report to the Ampitheatre to start today's challenge." Chris says through the PA.

As we get settled behind boxes there, Chris explains the challenge.

Basically, we have to spin a wheel and endure the pain it gives us for a full ten seconds.

Sounds easy enough.

The winner also gets a trailer stocked with food and toiletries.

"The first one up is....Duncan!"

I squeeze his hand tightly, and he gets up to go stand next to Chris.

"Turtle Puck Shots!"

He stands in front of a goalie, and Chef fires snapping turtles at him. He dodges the first few, but the rest clench their teeth around him, and he goes down.
