Home wasn't always a place, it could be a thing or a moment or a person. But when your home left you what do you have left? What do you do when your home is gone? Do you find a new one or do you just stay stranded?
*Damon's POV*
two months ago...
I laid there, Paisley was crying above me and screaming things that I could no longer understand. I'm going to die. I'm going to die. We're all going to die. Not when we're old and grey. We're going to die here and now. I thought. I could hear Aiden screaming Piper's name and Alex's desperate attempts to keep Jake awake. Then there was Sam who was trying to comfort Diana as she screamed in pain. Then Paisley was dragged out the door.

I could hear the sirens approaching. I couldn't feel the pain anymore, just an empty void. Like I was floating, but something held me back. Something tethered me to the world. Then Robert got up, the others were too distracted to notice. I couldn't move, I was frozen on the floor as I watched him run after Paisley. I made strangled noises but it was useless.

The ambulance came and took us all away to the hospital. I was fading in and out, here one moment and gone the next. My eyes dropped closed, Paisley was probably dead by now. She broke her promise and left me. At least I'd be with her soon.

When I came around my chest throbbed and ached but I was alive. Aiden started when he saw me sit up and then he relaxed.
"You're awake." He sounded relieved. My brain was fuzzy, what happened?
"Why am I here?" I asked looking around the hospital room.
"Damon you were shot, it's a miracle you're alive." Aiden pointed out.
"I was shot? Who shot me?" I asked wide eyed.

"Robert, the dude hunting Paisley down?" Aiden furrowed his brows.
"Paisley. Shit is she alright?" I asked.
"I don't know, I think I'm gonna get you a nurse." Aiden told me.
"I'm fine my brain is just a little fuzzy, was anyone else there?" I asked.
"Yeah, we all were. Diana has a broken leg in two places. Jake was stabbed and Pip was shot." Aiden's hands began shaking.
"Are they alright?" Fear shot through me.
"Now. Pip was gone for a minute or two but nothing that some good old CPR couldn't help." Aiden forced a smile and then he left. Paisley, where was she? Was she okay?

None of the nurses would answer my questions and Aiden didn't come back, I was left alone. I called and I called but she didn't respond. She didn't answer or call. Then the memories flooded my brain. Being shot, saying goodbye, Paisley being dragged away as she kicked and screamed. It all came back as a flood, she was dead. Paisley was probably dead. There's no possible way that suggests she isn't because Robert got up and chased after her barely minutes after she left.

By the time Aiden came back I had to ask him.
"Aiden is Paisley okay? Is she alive?" I demanded.
"I don't know." He admitted solemnly.
"You don't know? What do you mean you don't know?" I demanded.
"As in Pip was supposedly dead and so I wasn't exactly paying attention when she and her dad ran. At least they got out of there." Aiden ran a hand through his hair. I sighed, he was right. We were all going through something that night, I shouldn't have expected him to know where she was.

"She's dead isn't she?" I asked.
"I don't mean to upset you or anything but probably. Robert chased after them within minutes of them leaving. It's likely that he caught up to them. And if he didn't it's likely that we're never gonna see her again." Aiden bit his lip and I nodded.
"I know, I just hoped that by some chance someone knew about where she might be." I stared down at the blankets of my hospital bed. Gone. Dead. Never seen again. Nothing but my memories left.

A month later...
It's been a month since that night, we're all back on our feet and are still the talk of the town. The kids that were shot and stabbed and the girl that brought them to that world. It was ridiculous. It made me sick. I was back at school, football season was going strong. We were winning more and training more. I was at least.

I walked into the cafeteria and sat down at our table. I couldn't help but notice the empty seat. Paisley's seat. But then a hand grabbed the seat and then someone was sitting down in it. Amanda. I stared at her, did she really just do that?

"Hey guys, do you mind if I sit? Of course not." She flipped her blonde hair behind her and batted her eyelashes. I felt the others tense around me but I just continued eating my food. I wasn't exactly disposing of my grief in a healthy way. I was using it to make me better at football. It made me run faster and throw further. And slowly the grief wouldn't be so big. It slowly got smaller and smaller and I could manage and work my way around it.

I shoved more food into my mouth. The others needed to accept that we would never see her again. That the one who had brought us together and pulled us apart then glued back the pieces would never come back. She was gone, she wasn't going to come back to us.

"So there's this party happening on Friday, anybody else in?" Amanda asked.
"If by in you mean my fork in your eye then sure?" Alex responded.
"Ouch Al, that stung a little." Amanda didn't sound like she cared.
"Good." Alex grumbled.
"Just because Bella is gone doesn't mean that you have to be a bitch." Amanda told her.
"And just because you think you're popular and is an actual bitch doesn't mean that we're going to be friends with you." Piper added.

"Hey how's the chest? Heard you got shot, wait no you died didn't you? Lucky your boyfriend was there for you." Amanda smirked.
"Unlucky that your boyfriend was there as well." Pip shot back.
"He wasn't my boyfriend. More like a plaything." then Amanda got up and left.
"Can I kill her?" Alex asked.
"Not in public." Diana replied. A small smile spread onto my lips as the others laughed.

A month later...
The football game ended with another win for us.
"That was awesome Damon, you were on fire tonight." Aiden told me.
"I've never seen you move so fast." Sam added.

"Thanks guys, what's up with Jake?" To say Jake had been distant lately would be an understatement. He avoided us almost at any cost, he ignored my calls and didn't even sit with us anymore.
"I don't know, I've tried talking to him but he's been acting really weird." Aiden admitted.

"I've asked Alex and she said he's been weird with her too." Sam added.
"Maybe he's going through something at home?" I suggested.
"Possibly. But I think it's more than that. He's hiding something, something that's too big for him to handle on his own." We walked off of the field and Aiden's words sent a chill down my spine. What could be too big for Jake to handle?

But my thoughts dissipated as Amanda jumped into my arms and wrapped her legs around my waist. I caught her instinctively, she was light as. I thought as she kissed me, the others stopped and stared as I stood there frozen in place. No. This is wrong. What about Paisley? A voice shouted in my head. Paisley's dead. She's not coming back, the sooner you move on the better. A voice shot back.

So I kissed Amanda back, because Paisley was dead and I needed to move on. When we pulled back for air Amanda smiled at me.
"You were amazing out there." She told me.
"Thanks." I smiled at her. Out of the corner of my eye I could see the others staring at me with wide eyes and open mouths.
"Did that just happen?" I heard Piper asked.
"Should we get out of here?" Amanda asked.
"Yeah. Yeah we should." I placed Amanda down and we walked away.

Away from the football field. Away from the school. Away from my friends. Away from Paisley.

The second chapter is here! Sorry that it took so long to update, I'm back at school and it's been crazy! And I've got exams in like two/three weeks so updating might be a bit more difficult, I won't be updating as often as I updated not who you think but I promise at least one chapter will be uploaded each week! This chapter was to mainly show what Damon and the others have been up to over the past two months while Paisley and her dad were just driving around and arriving in Hawk Hills. Thanks for reading!
