Our last day

We spent the rest of the day confided in the dark room. Neither of us spoke, we just stared at the empty computer screen blankly. Neither of us knew what to say. After some time Ryu decided to break the silence. "So..." he sighed. "You're positive you don't know him?" I rubbed my sore eyes and shook my head.

"Technically, I do. But I have never spoken to him. He's apart of this cult that hurt my mama. They've been prosecuted countless times, yet there was no proof of anything. They're smart." I paused. "I don't want to die." Tears formed yet again in my eyes and Ryu hugged me. "I can go with you!" I shook my head violently and stared at him in shock. "No, you can't! It's too dangerous for you!"

"No, I don't care what anyone says. I want to stay with you." We both held onto our necklace piece. "If we ever find each other again, please don't leave." Ryu murmured hopelessly. I nodded and turned away, not wanting him to see the fear in my eyes.

'If we ever find each other again...'

Nighttime fell upon us, but we still hadn't left the room. We didn't bother to eat or sleep since we were only focused on being with each other. We dreaded morning when we had to part. Ryu stood up quickly. "Wait here? Okay?" I nod and watch him walk out the door. The moment he walked out, he walked back in?

'Huh?'

He walked up to me and looked at my puzzled expression. "Ryu-" he cut me off. "Don't mistake me for that boy." He said sharply. "What should I call you?" He smiled. "Beyond, BB, B, whatever you fancy. But don't call me backup." He drawled. "O-oh. What do you want?" I asked uneasily. He jumped in front of me with a smirk, his eyes lightly glistening red in the dim light. Something seemed off. "You're the new kid I presume?"

The kid stared at me in thought as he analyzed me. "No way," he began. "You have the eyes, too?" I tensed up and my eyes widened. "How did you-" B stood up quickly. "Well, I best be on my way. Til next time." He waves cheerfully and vanished. Ryu walked back in moments later with hot coco in his hands. He crouched next to me and handed me one. It was covered in whip cream and marshmallows; it made me smile.

Each sip soothes my parched throat and it was a moment of bliss for us both. We both finished and I pulled a blanket over myself since I was chilled, even after a warm drink. Ryu looked at me with a cheeky grin and held the blanket. "I'm cold." I giggled, handed it over and searched for another. I sat back down and we bundled up as we watched an old documentary on the computer about a serial killer.

"Hey Ryu, what's the difference between a serial killer and a mass murder?" He but his thumb and turned his head towards me. "Well, a serial killer is someone who has murdered three or more individuals in the period of a month. Mass murders kill multiple people at the same time, usually in a crowd." I nodded.
"Wow! You're so smart, Ryu." I said with a bright smiled. He nodded and blushed of embarrassment. "No, not really."

There was a knock on the door and Watari waltzed in with a warm smile. "Good news." Ryu faced him but I remained silent.

"What is it?" Ryu questioned. "I had a private investigator help me, and the police are at his door. We discovered his trafficking and stealing scandal. You're not going." I whipped my head around with a shocked expression. "R-really?" Ryu hugged me and cheered. "Yay! (Y/n) can stay!"

Watari smiles. "But, I must introduce you to the other children. Lawliet, you must bare." He groaned and reluctantly nodded. We stood up and followed the man to the main room where kids flooded. I scanned the vicinity and met with some familiar faces, Will and Beyond (who I shyly waved at). Will waved, Beyond nodded. Watari hushed the jitter of children.

"Now, this is (Y/n). She will be joining our humble home. The issue has been resolved and my decision was final. Good day. Remember, be kind." My face turned pink as all the kids gazed and smiled. For once, Lawliet was silent as he stood behind me.

Lawliet grabbed my hand and the kids rushed up to me. I smiled and shook many hands. Most of the faces were unfamiliar but friendly. Once we were done we walked back to the room. "That was nerve wracking." I laughed a little to shake off the feeling. William walked in and Ryu glared at him, clearly showing he was upset.

"I heard the man yesterday. Was he really trying to hurt you? That's so bizarre!" I laughed nervously and nodded. "Y-yeah, it was scary." He left the room and told his friends that were leering at our door. Finally alone; we sat back down on the wall with our blankets. We watched some more documentaries and he informed me about criminal law. It was very interesting. We got lunch (at approximately 4. A little late) and came back with more sweets.

The sky began to fade into orange and violet and Ryu drifted to sleep. I waited some time but I laid awake for hours, contemplating everything. I was so grateful for him. He and Watari took me under his wing, but as much as I liked him, William or even Beyond...I mustn't stay. I couldn't. That man or someone else might come back. I wouldn't only be endangering myself, but I would endanger the other children as well.

I stood up and scrounged for paper and a quill, something foreign and long forgotten. But they used. The lights were off, but the bright moonlight shone bright through the window and admitted enough light for me to scratch out:

Dear Ryu,

By the time you're reading this I will be gone. Please don't ever look for me, you'll get yourself killed. Please. I have to leave and I cannot explain right now. It hurts me so much and I don't want to leave, but I must. There is business that must be done. I pray we will meet again. Goodbye Ryu, thank you for everything you've done. I am in your debt. Sincerely, (Y/n).

I gently placed the note in Ryu's delicate hand with tears running down my face. I hugged him and buried my face into his thick hair. His strawberry scent filled me with warmth and regret. I stayed for about a minute, but stood up and walked away. I looked back one last time and whipped around. I couldn't let fear get ahold of me. I creeped through the empty halls and stopped at the front door.

"Hey." Whispered a voice behind me. It startled me but I turned around and laid eyes on Beyond.

I updated for you guys!! ^^ I hope you like it~
