Hope (L x Reader)

Anxiety

L walked in a few hours later and blushed when he saw me. He sat down at the couch and tried to ignore my presence.
"Lawliet...I need to tell you something."

He stared at me, utterly confused. "What are you-"
I cut him off and pulled out my death note from my fairly large coat pocket.
I gave it to him and watched him examine it.

"Your eyes must have something to do with this then...did you make the contract...even more puzzling, where's your shinigami?..."

He gasped.
"Are you the..."
I nodded.

"This would help you...I wanted to help...please don't leave."
He smiled weakly and stared at the notebook.

"I'd never leave you for something like this...But I may need to keep a close eye on you for the days ahead of us."
I nodded and smiled.

'Thanks for understanding."

We spent the rest of the day on L's laptop trying to track Kira.
I looked at the clock. 12:00pm.
L looked too. "You haven't gotten rest since you've came here (Y/n)."
I slowly stood up.

Damn...

"Something wrong?" He asked.
"I forgot pyjamas at my house...no worries."
I sighed.

"Do you need pyjamas?"
I blushed. "N-no, it's fine."
He reached into a drawer and pulled out another long white shirt and handed it to me. "I-I can't." I stuttered. "I don't mind."
And he turned around as I put it on.

He turned to face me and laughed because the shirt was too big.
We both sat down on the couch and I rested my head on his shoulder. He smiled and put a blanket over us and continued to type on his laptop.

"Night..." I whispered.
"Goodnight." He whispered back.
And I fell asleep.

Morning:
I woke up to a hear a loud noise come from another room. L wasn't by me. I sprang to my feet and heard a noise coming from the kitchen.

I walked to the kitchen and peered my head around the door to find L making pancakes.

He turned his head towards my direction and smiled.
"Ah, you're finally up." He said cheerfully. I made myself a cup of coffee and rubbed my sore, tired eyes.

"You seem happy." I said tiredly.
"I've narrowed down my two suspects."
He said happily as he put away the pancake mix.

"And not only that but I bet you can see if they have a death note."
"Who are you talking about?"
I sighed.

"Light and Misa."
I never bothered to look at their names and life span...It's not like I cared...Light had Ryuk with him though...

"Fine with me." I mumbled as I sat down at the table to read the morning news. He set down pancakes and sat down in the chair across from me.
"How'd you know?" I asked.

" I knew they lived in Kanto region of Japan because of my broadcast. Kira would also need some kind of tie to the police if he were to kill some private criminals. He's also childish and hates to lose."
I grinned.

"Like you." He laughed. "Yes, like me."
After breakfast I put on a coat and ran to my house to get my normal clothes and then to go to work. When I opened the door Ryuk was standing there. I jumped back.

"Ryuk, what are you doing here?!"
I ran inside and slammed the door before locking it.
"I'm here to warn you (Y/n)."
I sighed. "About what? The fact that L's life is in danger? I think you're too late on that Sherlock. I knew that ages-"

That brainless train wreck cut me off.

"L's already having suspicions on Light being Kira. Believe it or not, Light is smart.
(I know, hard to believe XD)
If L's not careful he will get killed by Kira one or two. Kira two-"
I cut him off. "Misa." He sighed.

"Yeah, her. She's already seen his real name. She made the deal with her shinigami so be careful."
And he flew through the walls.
"Don't worry L. As long as you're with me, you'll be safe."

I whispered to myself and I put my clothes into a bag and set off to work.
When I arrived I was greeted by Mrs.Cradey as usual and she
bombarded me with questions on what happened.

I had baked a cake which was my way of saying thank you to L.
On my break I went to a small creek and sat on the rock laughing to myself.

Never thought you'd end up like this did you (Y/n)? Who knew why L did that...I never would of thought he was trying to protect me.

I heard a rustle in the bushes and I went over. I saw Light talking to Ryuk about something. I quickly took a video on my phone to record it.

"Once I say I discard it I will give up ownership of the death note. I'll give it to Misa but then she'll also have to give hers up too. Got it?"

The shinigami nodded.
"No..." I whispered to myself.
I quickly ran back to the bakery and told Mrs.Cradey I had to leave and she nodded.
I ran out the door moments later to be running down the streets.
Time skip.

I burst open the door and L turned his head.
"(Y/n) you're ear-" I cut him off.
"MISA...SHINIGAMI-..." I gasped
His eyes widened. "(Y/n), sit down."
I sat down on the couch next to him and began to control my breathing.

"L and Misa are Kira. They're planning to give up they're death notes. We have to catch them before they pass their power! They're going to kill you!"

L stared at me for a moment and then sprung to his laptop.
"Misa and Light?" I nodded.

I'm so sorry for the lack of updates...I'm going through some things and I don't have motivation to write this...I promise I will pull through and finish this story! Happy LATE thanksgiving!
