Feelings

After what seemed like ages, I stopped crying and I started to relax. I stared down at the stream below us and heaved a heavy sigh.
"He hates me."
I said aloud.
"I bet he doesn't." Beyond said as he also looked into the stream.
"Then why did he do this to me?"
Beyond paused for a moment.
"Knowing L it's over something important. He always has a reason for the things he does. Maybe he told you..."

L's words flashed into my brain.

"It's your fault. I don't need you."

I stood up and climbed down the tree.
"Where are you going?" Beyond asked as he fell down the tree.
"Back to Japan." I mumbled.
I turned around and started to walk away but Beyond jogged up beside me.
"You just got here."
"I have no reason to stay."
I started to walk faster. "hey wait up!"
He yelled. We made it back to the Wammy house and I took my bags from my room and walked down the hallway.

As I put my hand on the door handle I heard a cold voice.
"You're still here?" L's drawling voice said. I stayed frozen to the spot as I felt L moving closer.

"Didn't those kidnappers teach you to look at someone when they're speaking to-" he was cut off by Beyond.
"One more word and you'll be the one in the ambulance." He stood in front of me to protect. I had sensed danger and I bolted out the door. I slammed it and I ran.

I wiped the tears from my face as I continued running to the airport.

Time skip

I reached Japan not too long ago and now. After paying the driver I dragged myself home and on the way I had spotted a moving box.
What the hell?
I lifted it up to find a small black kitten staring up at me with its bright green eyes. The moment our eyes met I had a piercing burn in mine.
"Ow!" I said. I blinked again and scooped up the cat.
We made it to my house and the cat made its home on my couch.
I sat down on the couch and rubbed my eyes.
They hurt badly.

I rested my head on a pillow while the cat leaned his warm fur against my cold skin.
I drifted to sleep humming sad tunes.
I woke up to the soft split splat of raindrops on my window. I grumbled about walking outside in the rain and walked over to make breakfast.
My eyes still burned. I reached the kitchen only to be in no mood for food.

I checked my phone. 6:05am. I flopped down on the couch once again and the cat stirred awake. He meowed in protest for food.
I couldn't buy cat food so I decided to let him out.
I returned to the TV and looked at the weather forecast.

Rain this entire week. How delightful.

I switched the channel and the news grabbed my attention.
"Hello and good morning Japan. We have a special announcement from a police officer."
I had stared at the officer who came on television.
Soichero Yagami.

The policeman who always tried to catch me.
"I've been seeing dangerous things on the streets that you all should know. Parents, this is a warning for your children. If you see any suspicious children please contact us."

"Is he talking about me?"
The man rambled on.
"I've been seeing some homeless kids who are dangerous to the environment and we need to question them before they can do critical damage. That is all."

He walked off.
"So I'm the dangerous one?"
I bit my lip, grinned and pulled out my death note.
"Think you'll get this? Wrong!"
I laughed but suddenly clasped my hand over my mouth.

No. Don't start.

I buried the death note under a couch cushion and let the cat in. I shut the door and shut off the TV. I clenched my fists and started to shake. I suddenly stopped.

"No more of this emotional me. L was right. I have to grow up." I said in a quiet voice. I got dressed for the day and headed towards the bakery, eyeing for Yagami.
I had been walking in the streets when someone had grabbed me by the shoulder.
"Don't touch me you-" I turned around.
It was Soichero Yagami.
"I guess you saw my little broadcast and decided to take a detour today didn't you?" I slowly backed up.
"What do you want?"

He grabbed me again. "Follow me. I will not hesitate to use force."
My eyes widened and I whispered.
"Don't make me go back. They'll kill me."
He stared at me confused.
"Go back where?"

I backed up out of his reach, turned around and ran for it.
Two homeless boys had seen what was going on and created a diversion to let me escape. I looked back and he was staring at me furiously.

I had ran to the bakery breathless.
"Ah, you're just in time (Y/n)!"
Said Susan in her usual tone.
I sighed of relief and walked into the baking room. Once again we started to bake.

"I didn't expect you to be back from your trip so early." I said nothing.
"Something wrong?" I sighed.
I smiled and pulled out some bread from the oven.
"Don't worry I'm fine."
I made it through half of my shift and I was maintaining the cashier position. Susan was right by my side.
I was selling a customer something when Soichero Yagami walked in.

He whispered something in Susan's ear and stared at me.
"Long time no see."
