''I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us equals."

-Winston Churchill

Éclair's POV

The limousine I was confined with pulled over. It was almost dark when I reached Chest. The sun has set; its rays has escaped beyond the horizon.

" Lady Éclair, we have arrived."

To be honest, I was quite surprised the mansion is as small as this. I expected more from it since it is said that those of royal blood carrying a curse such as myself, are the ones who lives here.

"Do you think I haven't noticed that?"

I sarcastically asked the chauffer who sent me to my new residence.

He just lowered his head. I stepped out of the car after he opened the door for me.

"You may go."

I wanted to thank him for driving me here but I can't put the right words into my mouth. Nothing good comes out.

"Forgive me, Lady Éclair, I still have to carry your suitcase and belongings to your room."

The good chauffer insisted.

"I can do that on my own. Leave."

"But..."

I didn't want to scare him, yet I also didn't want to trouble him anymore.

"Leave.". I hate my habit of building a wall so that people can't get close to me.

I hate my habit of bad mouthing them using my sharp tongue.

But I need it to protect myself.

It's all I ever know.

The Lascelles' and all those who work for us are scared of my extraordinary ability.

My ash mauve eyes changes to red whenever I am to use these prowess. I consider it a curse.

"Fo..forgive me"

The chauffer didn't wait for my right eye to turn red as well, he hurriedly went inside the car, started the engine and left.

I sighed.

He must have really thought I was going to use the paralysis on him. His legs were shaking.

He was wrong. I would never use this curse even if I die.

Once is enough.
I have harmed many people in the past and that was enough.

-

Bringing my luggage to my room won't harm me. It even takes a lot more than that to exhaust me.
