"The majority of meetings should be discussions that lead to decisions." -

-Patrick Lencioni

Éclair's POV

It only took one step from the gentleman I was talking to for the both of us to wear the same expression. We were surprised when Ead moved between us matching Raven's speed. Really, I always thought he was that slow. They covered me as if I'm facing danger, as if it is possible that the man could hurt me. Their right and left hand formed an 'x' signaling the gentleman to halt.

"With all due respect Sir, where are you taking her?" Ead asked not moving an inch away from me.

"Huh. You dimwit move aside." How can he do this to the director? Even though we are aristocrats he has to show respect for the people who exert effort for his countrymen.

"But-"

"No. Move aside and let's hear him out."
Darn it why does he always overreact?

We stared at each other for 2 minutes and 14 seconds until he gave up. He has to admit that he never ever once won a staring match between us and he never will.
"Fine." He sighed before backing off  a little. His stare offered security but I refused it because I know I don't need the concern.

Ead's been really weird lately. He's gaining more common sense and getting more serious like a father.

Right. I forgot he consider himself my dad.

"You may now tell us what you need sir provided that we hear anything you say. If your reason for coming here is invaluable then we will not allow her to go with you."

"Pierce."

What on earth is happening to him?

"Huh. How childish."
I stated in exasperation.

The director only chuckled even though I know he's irritated by Ead's behavior. Actually, we all are.

"Very well."

Surprised when Raven moved away from me, I watched him closely. "Sire, if you don't mind, allow me to accompany you to the living room. The discussion will go smoothly there and everyone would be comfortable."

"Sure." The only answer of the visitor.
We moved from the dining area to the spacious living room so as to be comfortably seated.

"I came here bringing this." He gave me a small elegant black box with a black ribbon on the top. I opened it immediately. An ordinary looking eyeglasses was inside it.

"What's that?" Asked Ead again. Bah.

We all looked at him and answered with our eyes 'it's obviously an eyeglasses, what's wrong with you?'.

Though we didn't expect him to get that given that he's not Blanche, he nevertheless answered.
"I mean, what's it for? Duh" he rolled his eyes at us showing his obnoxious defense mechanism.

"Well, it may look ordinary at first but it's more than that. That eyeglasses will be your new accessory as you take part of Dersenia Investigation department. "

He's telling me to be in character isn't he?

He speaks as if everything is planned out. Seemingly he acts like asking me was just for formalities sake and my answer really doesn't weigh anything.

"I see."
Dersenia is our country, that I am already part of. The 'investigation department' on the other hand is none of my concern.

"Ms. Blanche who has telepathy and Miss Victoria's psychometry has helped the Police greatly. We are very thankful for their act of volunteerism and compassion to those who seek for justice."

"Huh...if you already have them, why am I still needed? Get straight to the point general." No. No. No. That isn't what I wanted to ask!

What can I do to help?... is a pretty simple question, isn't it? why can't I ask that? Just that!

"Because of the increasing cases of mass murder and terrorism, even though we identify the criminals and extremists using psychometry and telepathy, we still have a national problem."

"Exactly what is it director?" Ead's been eagerly listening.

"The Prime Minister appointed me to lead a special investigation division where criminals are caught without being hurt. Without the police killing them so that issues of human rights will no longer be a problem."

"Are you telling me that because of the increasing number of crimes, there has been an alleged or should I say suspected extra judicial killings?!.How can you include her to this, she will be in great danger!"
Ead impulsively questioned him.

"For once can you not overreact? This is not only an issue of human rights and social justice, this is a matter of national security because it affects all aspects of the people's lives, the least we could do is cooperate."

"You hit the nail on the head lady Eclair." The general has this mischievous, wicked smile that even I can't decipher.

"Wow clair you...you finally found your voice."
I did alright.

"Huh. Listen general, we are not heroes. We are simply aristocrats born with abilities that surpass and deviate from the word 'normal'...but we are humans too."

"I am very much aware of that Lady Eclaír but we are in great need of your help. Now, let me ask you once and for all your grace, are you willing to be one of us?"

Obedience to the law has become an option and so extremists and terrorist are everywhere. The people's trust in the government and national defense has been decreasing and that can't get any worst. I know I'm capable of doing something to be part of the solution. Finally! Liberty is on me, I found a purpose in life! This will be the root of upcoming responsibilities and I will live fighting for what I believe in.

But...

I have only recently controlled my chester. I haven't mastered it yet!
What if I mess up?! What if someone die because of me again?  What if justice won't be achieved because of my incompetence and lack of training?!

Hundreds of images popped up my mind. It was like I was running thousands and thousands of miles without a specific goal. No where to go to and no one to run to.

It was getting hard to breathe when a hand lightly held my shoulder. He smiled so gently lifting all the worries and fears unconsciously building up inside me, like a pile of huge blocks threatening to choke me.

"Whatever you decide on, I'll be right beside you."
That soothed me. My pain, insecurities and confusion, he managed to take it away with few sincerely spoken words.

"Huh. I know that. Thank you Raven..". .you've always been a great help to me.

"Hey is it just me or you're attitude towards the both of us is significantly different?" Ead asked with pure irritation in his eyes. Everyone ignored him though.

I closed my eyes in preparation for one of the biggest decision I will make in this life.
