"It gives me strength to have somebody to fight for; I can never fight for myself, but, for others, I can kill."

― Emilie Autumn, The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls.

Eclair's POV

I finished three glasses of water before getting satisfied. It's not like I wanted people around, but seeing no one in this house made me curious. I was told that I am to live with other blue bloods which carry the curse, useful for the society.  honestly, this curse do nothing but destroy my life.

I wonder how other Curse Carrier feel about their extraordinary abilities, do they also hate it as much as I do?...

The lights were turned off, for a moment I thought there was a blackout.

Before I was able to turn my head to look at the switch, I cringe when someone grabbed my hair.
It got caught up by a huge hand who's owner threw me on the floor from a lengthy chair I was sitting on.

"So this is the mansion who has top security system?!!! What a fraud. It was so easy getting inside!"

"Oh. It was just a normal human person." I can't tell if he's ignorant or just brave.

"What did you say?!"
Anger is seen from his face. He cocked the gun he was pointing towards me.

"Where did you hide the money here?! Where are the gold bars and the bloody cursed people. ?!I'm going to sell those elite bastards"

My eyes started to change color again. It was gradually turning to bloody red again.

I was certain that protecting myself by just scaring him a little was the right thing to do but he deliberately pulled the trigger and my eyes turned back from red to ash mauve.

Why?

Because my familiar came.

And he caught the bullet for me.

"Forgive me for my tardiness, my mistress." Crap he's good at rhyming words. He turned his head to the trespasser.

"You dare to point a gun at Lady Éclair, mere human."
His left eye is turning into something more beautiful than it already is.

Luminescent green. Its glowing!

"M-monster!" The trespasser tried to run. But it's no use. There's no way he can escape.

It was then that I noticed, my Familiar's left hand was full of blood because of the gunshot.

In just a blink of an eye, both of them were gone.

he... teleported? -_-

A minute passed and the guy calling himself my familiar went back.

"Are you alright lady Éclair?" He asked.

''Y-you're shot!''

''If by my life and death I can protect you, I will'' Again, I was dumbfounded.

''You think you will get a great reward from risking your life to protect me?! You think that reward would be greater than your life?! Are you that empty headed?!''

''I have no other things to offer you except my life and my body. I do not do this because of your social status or wealth. I am doing this because you saved me and gave me hope.''

he held my right hand and kissed it.

''I'm setting you free from whatever debt you think you have. Go live your life the way you want!.''

"I don't deserve such kind words lady Éclair."

He kissed my foot.

"Enough with that act!. What did you do to the human? Did you kill him?"

I asked after I removed my foot from his lips.

" No my mistress, I just told him never to come back here."

"Is that so? Then why did you have to carry him outside like that?"

He smiled politely.

"If he resisted, I would have to kill him. But I would never do that in front of you lady Éclair."

I was surprised. He's a fake who always know what to say.

"So you did kill him."

He helped me stood up since I was still fazed from what just happened I remained sitting down until he came back.

He smiled politely again but didn't answer.

"Do you still consider me a nuisance my mistress?"
He asked with the same sad expression again.

"Huh! You're okay. You might be useful in some ways." Thank you. For being there for me when I needed you. stupid dog.

"Thank you lady Éclair, you really are a very kind person. I am so honored to serve you as my mistress."

"Huh! I have no choice. I guess you could be a useful familiar."
Hopefully, you won't run away when you see the real me.

"Not yet."

"What?"

He came closer and pulled me to him. It was evening, on my first day at Chichester Mansion, when I got my first kiss.

He claimed my lips without me knowing.

"You..."

"Contract sealed." He smoothly said.
