Chapter Twenty

Tobias POV.

"Her blood cells are overproduced and infected from her wound, the best thing we can do right now is do Chemotherapy." The doctor says. It's been fifteen minutes since we heard the news and I'm slumped on Tris' hospital bed crying. The doctor has left to give us some time to ourselves. "So unfair." I mutter into the comforter. Tris is rubbing my back and sniffling. "It's okay Tobias, they might be able to help me," She says. "I have almost lost you once and I know what it feels like and if I loose you again.. I don't think I'll be able to go on with this anymore," I say. She takes my hand and says "Look at me," And I do. "There's going to come a day when I die. Whether it be tomorrow or in fifty years, it's going to happen. We can't prevent it, no one and nothing can stop my death. There's a higher chance I'll be gone before you. And if that happens I want you to continue on in life, if I die I don't want you sitting and staring at walls like you were when I was in a coma. I'm not saying you can't be sad, but I want you to be able to strive for a good future, move on and have a big family. But keep me in your mind. I'll always be here and I'll always love you, I'll watch over you and I'll be right there when I see you again." Her words, and beauty just make me sob even more, she can't die.. we're getting married in a month. "But there's a chance I'll live, and we will have a family and a big house and we will live, learn, and love until the end." She grips my hand harder on the word end. "What about our wedding?" I manage to sputter. "It'll happen if I live that long." She says with a smile. "Now no more what ifs, I'm going to fight my way to perfect health again and marry you," she says confidently.

Tris POV.

Everyone has come to see me already. This day has been full of tears and hugs. The doctor estimated I'll have about three months to live, so I can still marry Tobias. Thank goodness for that.
