Missing

Chapter Thirteen

Tobias POV.

I am sitting in the control room searching through cameras seeing if there's anything, anything at all giving away Tris' location and then the phone on the wall of my office rings. I get up and answer it with "Tobias Eaton speaking." and on the other end of the call is a voice I have been looking for, Tris. I grip the phone tighter. "Tris? Tris where are you?" I ask
"In amity! Max took me saying we were spending the night and started a rumour saying I went missing!" I sigh,
"I was just there yesterday I'm so glad you're okay, Tris where are you in Amity?"
"I don't know but I see a ladder."
"Okay slowly but carefully go up and see where you are and don't hang up." I say sternly. She responds with an okay and then drops the phone. After a short while I hear her jump off the ladder and say in a panicked tone,
"Tobias I'm in the torna-" she's cut off by a strong voice in the background yelling "HEY!" Probably Max.
"THE TORNADO SHELTER BY THE-" she says loudly and then I hear a blood curdling scream and then the phone gets cut off. I squeeze my eyes shut, that scream was like bloody murder. I get up and sprint to the train.

I am sprinting full speed to the only tornado shelter I know of, the one by the apple trees. I yank open the top and jump down. It's empty, Max relocated her. I climb back up and find myself looking for Max. Then I get an idea.

The siren is blaring a boy's voice saying "All Amity head to the dome for important announcement, all Amity head to the dome for important announcement." I got Johanna to do that for me. Once everyone is settled in the dome Johanna makes room for me in front of the tree and I speak up.
"You may have all heard a young seventeen year old girl named Tris Prior has been missing. Yesterday I got a call at work and answered to a panicked voice. It was Tris. She said she was in the tornado shelter by your apple trees. That's why I was frantically running towards it earlier. I know who took Tris and I need your help! She was relocated to a new hiding place, and the person who took her was former Dauntless leader Max." I hear many gasps and I feel Johanna squeeze my arm. "Max started a rumour saying me and Tris were going to spend a night here and that was false. She wasn't asleep in his arms she was knocked out by chemicals. If any of you see Max yell for me!" Just after that I hear "FOUR!" A young Amity girl screams and I see Tris running outside the dome. I sprint through the crowd and yell "TRIS!" She looks over and then it's as if she's tackled by an invisible person, and then there's blood, lots of it too.

"No no no no no no no no!!!!" I scream as I run to her side. "Tris It's okay, you're okay!" I say lifting her head, she got shot in the stomach and arm. Her eye completely bloody, and her face fully of bruises, cuts, scrapes and more. "Tob-" she croaks. "Shhhh I'm getting a doctor." When I go to get up I already see one running toward us. "She got shot!" I yell. He looks at her wounds and says "I can't help her here." I yank on my hair and yell "SHIT!!!" I pick her up and start running with the doctor to a clinic in Amity.

I lay her down and the doctor immediately gives her a shot and starts to take the bullets out. I think it was supposed to numb her but it wasn't enough. She starts screaming in agony and flails her free arm hitting the wall. "You're hurting her!" I yell.
"The numbing takes a moment to kick in but if she's wanting to live I need to work now." He says.

When he gets the last bit of the other bullet out Tris is numb and whimpering staring at the ceiling with sweat all over her forehead. I go over to her and move her hair out of her face.
"It's going to be alright Tris he's just stitching you up and you'll be okay." She grabs my hand and looks into my eyes. "I'm trying to stay awake." She starts crying and I stand there just looking at her. I can't take the pain so I kiss her. She doesn't kiss back because she's so weak but I know she wishes she could. When I pull away I wipe her tears away and keep holding her hand.
"All done." The Doctor says. I sigh in relief and then a female voice behind me says "Perfect." I then turn around and see Evelyn.
