Tom threw Bonnie the most gorgeous woodland-garden themed baby shower anyone had ever saw.
The baby shower took place in their very own Spanish/Mediterranean style back yard under a massive tent. The series of arches that led outdoors were draped with fake climbing plants, ivy, jasmine, roses and climbing hydrangea. The columns that supported them were wrapped in small white lights. Surrounding the tent, Tom had their very own trees decorated in lights. From the trunk to the branches, the tree had string lights spiraling around them while oversized light bulbs dangled from the bulkier branches.
On the huge circle patio, a dozen round tables sat to support all ninety-six guest. The place was packed with Bonnie's family and friends as well as Tom's family, some who even flew from Germany, as well as his industry friends. Each table seated eight guest. Mothers, Fathers, Friends, Aunts, Uncles, little cousins, you name it; they were there. Bill; the host of the shower, told the crowd of smiling faces that there were no assigned seats. The two families were very pleased and happy to mix and get to know one another.
The tables were covered in blush-pink sequin tablecloth and housed with gorgeous gold painted chiavari chairs. Each table was decorated with a huge flower centerpiece including pink and white roses, lilies, baby's breath and many green leaves. Gold colored candles of all sizes circled around the centerpieces wrapped in branchlike holders. The gold colored plates were shaped like leaves and on the back of every chair sat two white and pink balloons that looked as if they had been sprinkled and covered in gold confetti. The party favors were made of small wooden boxes with a pink ribbon tied; inside were s'more kits for each of their guest to take home with them. The large rectangle desert table sat to the far right of the main entry point. The table was packed with every size glass filled to the rim with pink, gold, white and brown candies, chocolate covered pretzels, pink colored popcorn in striped boxes, and caramel apples. The cake, which was not actually a cake at all, but hot-pink cupcakes made to look like mushrooms, sat in the middle on a huge three tiered log stand. Along the backside of the table, six baby-pink helium Balloons floated in the sky secured by glass lanterns filled with candles.
The blush colored gift table sat in the furthest part of the tent overflowing with presents. The table sprinkled with white baby's breath and the front displayed a dainty lace garland and letters stamped on burlap reading: SOPHIE.
Bonnie was glowing. She wore an elegant, long sleeved, off-shoulder, cream, bohemian style lace dress and floral headpiece. Her newly blonde locks were gathered and braided in a huge plait pulled to the side. Her floral headpiece was a delicate vine crown featuring a latticework design that accented light ivory and white flowers around the front and sides, a blend of baby's breath, and tiny artificial lily flowers painted gold. Being 8 months pregnant, her shoe of choice was of a comfortable one, and she decided on tan Gladiator-like strappy flat sandals. She looked stunning and everyone she passed told her so, especially Bill who could not stop telling her how beautiful she was. Bill was happy his best friend was now back into his life and was taking on the role as future uncle very seriously. He was the co-host of the baby shower and made sure everything was perfect from the preparations to the finish. While Tom had envisioned it all, Bill made the shower come to life with all the intricate details and spared no expense to the cost.
Tom staying true to his laid back casual demeanor and style wore a heather gray loose V-neck tank top that showed just the slightest beginning of his chest pecks. Over top, he paired it with a baby blue open button up and dark slim fit jeans. His dark hair was pulled back into a low messy man-bun and every so often Bonnie slid her fingers along his exposed neck trying to fix stray hairs. Bonnie and Tom walked side by side for most of the event and they did not hesitate when it came to displaying their affection. They showered one another with kisses, hugs, and intimate gestures. At every table, they stopped for pictures and their family & friends drooled and fawned over Bonnie's gigantic pear shaped diamond engagement ring. Everyone was so very happy for them.
Two weeks prior to this event, Tom and Bonnie felt it would be best to introduce Bonnie's pregnancy by a Tokio Hotel TV episode called: EXCITING NEWS! The video was about 8 minutes long and it featured hilarious and heartwarming clips of their family and staff's reaction to Bonnie's pregnancy and their engagement. The best of all was their band members, Gustav and Georg when they realized Tom had proposed. Georg actually shed a tear and Gustav would not let him go from his happy embrace. The band also thought creating the video would be a great way to inform the fans about what was going on in their lives. At the end of the video, which usually features the four men telling their fans to subscribe, instead Tom and Bonnie sat on their plush cream sofa. Although they probably would have thought so anyway, it was the first time, the fans had ever seen the inside of their home. Until that day, no other girlfriend/lover had ever been seen on Tokio Hotel TV. It was big news for the fans and seeing Bonnie in the flesh, round glowing face and swollen belly seemed to win over the fans. The reviews, comments, and huge press that followed featured numerous supportive fans smiling and happy for them. Many of the fans were still in pure shock. While they knew Tom and Bonnie were dating, they had no idea she would soon become his wife, and even sooner the mother of his child. They decided protect her name for the moment but they did expose that she was indeed a little girl. Tom did most of the talking, which was the best idea. Millions of girls, women and men all over the world was in love with the band, they would not want the first thing they hear is Bonnie . He wanted to stress to the fans of Bonnie and his upcoming need of privacy. He expressed his hopes of a healthy baby girl and that because they love their fans so much; he hoped they would respect his wishes at that time.
The shower, which began at 3 p.m., went long into the night. The lights that were hardly noticed earlier began to twinkle and shine in the growing darkness. The in-ground lights flickered on, the candles in lanterns were burning, the dangling lightbulbs and string lights beamed soft light throughout and the pathway leading to the tent had lights on each side. It was a magical sight. At the end of the night, Tom and Bonnie asked their friends and family to take part in their baby book. Towards the beginning of the shower, Bill placed a book labeled with a table number, glue sticks, pens, and a Polaroid camera in a small wooden bucket beside each table. He informed the guest to take as many pictures as they wanted throughout the night; and they did. After Tom and Bonnie finished opening all of Sophie's gifts, they informed their loved ones to start gluing those pictures inside of the books along with writing anything they wanted to say.
The pictures included Bill, Valerie and Bonnie blowing kisses at the Camera, Tom wearing a baby-pink crown with the bows and hearts stapled to it, and Bonnie and Tom both shedding tears at Bills, Georg and Gustav's gift.
Gustav being the artisan that he was, created them a beautiful bookcase built from wood reclaimed from his trips all over the southern states of America, giving it a solid, rustic look. "It has character that you just don't find with new", Gustav, said as he and Georg carried it over to the parents to be. They loved it and both exchanged hugs with them. Bill, who said his gift incorporated with Gustav's came over smiling, holding a huge pink box. He sat it in Tom's lap and watched as he tore open the wrappings and realized what it was. The look on Tom's face was of pure love and appreciation as tears began to swell in his eyes. Bonnie, realizing what it was began to tear too. Their loved ones screamed and hollered to see what was in the box and they all soon became teary-eyed and clapped.
It was the complete set of Grimms' Fairy Tales, all 240 of them. Tom and Bill both had enjoyed these German stories when they were younger and unfortunately had to leave most of them behind when their parents divorced and separated. Bill watched his brother's emotional response as he continued through the box calling out the names of the books.
A moment later, they were hugging and the room was echoing with applause.
