BONNIE

...1 year Later...

The past twelve months have been a whirlwind. After we left St. Barth's, Tom and I became a couple. After two months of traveling back and forth, I left everything behind in Maryland and moved to Los Angeles to be with him. It was nice to be with him; well most days. The last few weeks, Tom has been in the studio a lot producing and mixing sounds for the new album. When I can afford it, I fly my sisters out to Los Angeles to be with me when I am lonely. I do not work anymore and I think that is a huge part of my loneliness. When I left Maryland, I knew that it would be hard for me to continue to run my business while living in another state. I cried for days.

Tom and I live in a West Hollywood home with Bill. At first, it felt awkward to be living with a twenty-seven-year-old man and his identical twin brother, but I came to find out that Bill was starting to become a best friend of mine. We have a lot in common. We love watching movies together, going shopping and he also happens to love Britney Spears, which is a bonus. I spend most of my days at home or going out with some girlfriends I have become close to in Los Angeles. Most of them are unemployed women who are rich because of the men they are dating or married to. At times, I felt like that was who I was becoming and had to remember that I am a hardworking woman with a business. Well, I was a woman with a business.

Tom and I announced our relationship to the public about five months in. Although magazines in Germany and websites had photographed us in public together, we never fully announced it and continued to let them speculate. It was not until a picture of Tom and I kissing at a fair was plastered over every magazine, did we feel the need to tell anyone outside of friends, family and staff. While Tom and I are both non-confrontational people, we both are very stubborn and head strong. The cause of most of our "not talking to you" phases are due to his superstardom. I will not lie. I do enjoy it sometimes. The life; to catch a plane at any second and get away. To have everything I would ever need or want a card swipe away. It is a great benefit. However, sometimes it can be overbearing and frightening. We recently went to Germany for an award show. I did not go as Tom's official date; he was with the band of course, but I was there. The crowd was crazy and the fans were super intense. After the show, they decided to show me around Berlin. We went to dinner at one of their favorite restaurants and when we came out fans and paparazzi swarmed us. Girls screamed and yelled. Pulled and shoved to get near us.

Camera flashes almost blinded me while they yelled and screamed "TOM! BONNIE! BILL! THIS WAY! LOOK HERE!"

I was being pushed towards the car by their guard trying to protect me from the reach of the sea of arms. I was absolutely terrified. We took a plane back to Los Angeles the next early morning and I then fully understood why the guys moved from Germany.

When the fans found out about us, they were not all so happy and accepting. One of my favorite things about the band is how close and personal they are with their fans. They have private meet and greet packages where 5-10 girls can pay to meet them in person and hear acoustic versions of their songs and talk with them. One girl who came to their Moscow private meet and greet gave Tom a letter. She told him to not open the letter until he was alone. They receive many presents from their fans. Some of what they keep, and some they have their personal assistant Mike store them in a storage locker after they have looked at them. This note however did not make it to the storage locker. The note was a petition of over 5,000 signatures from girls all over the world wanting Tom to break up with me. They fought that they were in love with the band and if Tom and I did not call it off, they would all kill themselves. This note sparked one of their most viewed Tokio Hotel TV episodes. The video was twenty-two minutes long. The guys sat talking to the screen as if they were actually talking directly to their fans begging them to never do harm to themselves. To talk to them about self-love, the love they have for their fans but also their need and want for their fans to be supportive of them and their decisions and not wanting to hurt them or anyone they love. They received mixed feedback from the video.
