I sat legs crossed at the table of the Gramercy Tavern. Tom was fifteen minutes late and I was hoping he was not standing me up. I tried not to get annoyed with his tardiness but after the second person trying to hit on me, I became impatient.

The Gramercy Tavern was gorgeous. It was a dimmed lit restaurant with dozens of round tables draped in white and covered in candles. Our table, a smaller square table, sat behind one of the many private arches beyond the crowd. In the far back of the restaurant stood a grand bar with glasses hanging from above the bartender. The whole place had a vintage renaissance feel to it. I gazed at the beautiful chandeliers, which were made of what seemed like iron and wood, and each arch housed a set of red floral drapes. It was a beautiful choice and I was happy I dressed appropriately.

I had decided on a body hugging, long sleeve, burgundy suede dress. Earlier, as I laid out what I wanted to wear on Vivian's guest bed, I tried to pick something sexy yet appropriate for dinner and the fall weather. The dress was my first choice but being the indecisive person that I am, I had to try on other options. The dress came a bit below my knees so it was not entirely a cocktail dress, which I liked, and the just-above-my-neck neckline kept it sophisticated and classy. I kept my makeup simple and glowy. I did not want to overdo it but I also did not want to show up looking mediocre.

Another 5 minutes had passed as I sat texting Vivian on my phone. I looked around my view of the restaurant and did not see Tom anywhere. He stood me up. I cannot believe he fucking stood me up. I reached for my black purse, which sat on the empty seat beside me and started to make my way out of Gramercy Tavern.

"Leaving?" a voice said.

Tom was standing there with a grip on my forearm.

"Yes" I said flatly. I was quite angry with him. I have never been stood up before and I did not care who he was or how famous he was.

"Can you let go of my arm please?" I asked.

I knew my face showed my irritation because he instantly said he was sorry. He slid his arm to my waist and began to guide me back to the table to sit again. I tried my hardest to keep the 'I'm mad at you' look on my face but I could not. He looked great and as much as I tried to look upset, I could not stop myself from smirking as he confessed his excuses.

"That's why I was late," he said taking off his jacket and sitting it behind his chair. "You have no idea what it's like trying to have a private life when you're famous for something. Bill and I had to sit in a dark alley with all the lights off just so they wouldn't follow us"

"Tragic" I said unsympathetically as I reached for my lukewarm water.

Our waiter came over and collected our drink and food orders.
