BONNIE
I turned the knob to the chestnut wooden door and slid my body around it. His bed was lying in the far middle of the room and I couldn't see his body at all through the layers of tan fluffy blankets. I tip-toed across the tiled floor then onto the plush cream carpet that surrounded his king sized bed. I pulled back the blanket and slid in behind his shirtless body. He turned to face me and jumped immediately by my presence.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice raspy from sleeping.
I stood there looking at him for a moment unable to get words to appear in my mouth.
"I know you that you love me and we both know it's not great for us to be together...but tonight, I just want you close to me. I just need to feel your skin against mine. Is that okay?"
He looked at me with those beautiful brown almond eyes. "I don't think this is a good idea."
"I know but can you please just hold me?"
I started crying right there on his pillow and I couldn't help it.
"SHHH." He whispered wiping my tears away. "Don't cry. It's okay. My arms would want nothing more than to have you in them."
This made me cry even more but I did it softly. I snuggled under his warm body and his arms cuddled me close to him. He cradled me as if I was a baby and caressed my hair and face until I fell asleep.
