Lena's POV
We walked into the house and the girls ran to the play room. I set Aiden's carrier on the couch and walked over to Baylee.
"Would you like to see your room?" I asked her. She nodded her head and followed me upstairs.
I hadn't been in Sarah's room in years. It brought tears to my eyes everytime I walked in, but Baylee needed a room. She was my daughter now.
I opened the door and Baylee followed me in. "This will be your room. If you want to redecorate, feel free to let Adam or I know. The clothes in the closet should fit. Let me know if you want to go shopping. Adam went out to get you a cell phone and a laptop," I said.
"Thank you," She said as she looked around the room. "This used to be my daughter's room," I said. "What happened to her?" Baylee quietly asked. "She was in a car crash. The other driver t-boned her on her side of the car and it killed her," I said as tears started to fall down my face. "I'm sorry," Baylee said.
I wiped my tears away and stood up. "Feel free to make yourself at home. This is your home now," I said. "Thanks," She said. I looked down and saw the bruises on her arms. She must've seen me look and them, because she instantly hid her arms behind her back.
"I'll let you get settled. It's Adam's birthday so we're going to have a little family party. Just the 6 of us." I said. "Ok," She said. "I'll let you know when dinner is ready," I said before I shut her door and walked downstairs.
I picked Aiden up out of his carrier and walked into the playroom. Adalyn and Kennedy were sitting at their little table coloring.
"Hey cuties," I said as I walked over to them. "Mommy who is that girl?" Kennedy asked. "That's Baylee. She's your new big sister," I said. "How did we get her?" Adalyn asked. "Daddy and I adopted her," I said. "Oh." Adalyn said. "I'm gonna make pasta for daddy's birthday. Would you two like to held me?" I asked. "Yes!" They exclaimed before they ran into the kitchen.
I set Aiden in his baby swing and walked into the kitchen with the girls. "What kind of pasta should we make daddy?" I asked them. "Mac N Cheese!" They exclaimed. "I think daddy wants something other than mac n cheese for dinner," I said. "Chicken alfredo!" Kennedy exclaimed. "Sounds like a plan!" I said as I got the pot up and filled it with water before setting it on the stove.
Baylee's POV
I looked around the room. There were pictures everywhere of this girl and her friends and who I assumed was her boyfriend.
According to everything I saw, this girl's name was Sarah. She was actually really pretty. She had long brown hair and hazel eyes. Kinda like me.
From the looks of it, no one had been in here since the day she died. I walked into the closet and was overwhelmed with sparkly clothes.
She did have great fashion sense though. She had a huge closet. It was full of jeans, fancy shirts, dresses, skirts, shoes, purses, scarves. You name it, she had it.
It felt weird being in her room. Knowing that she was dead. I sort of felt like I was intruding. But this was the only bedroom they had left, so I would have to live in it.
It also felt weird living in my idol's house. I had every Maroon 5 cd and had been a fan since I was 10 years old. Whenever I was sad, I would listen to the cds and they made me feel better.
His wife seemed really nice, but I could tell she missed her daughter a lot. I hoped I could live up to their expectations of a daughter. I hadn't been anyones daughter in a year.
I haven't felt like one in almost 5.
