Chapter 12
The Meeting of Liberation

Three weeks and five days have past ever since I've become a member of the trainers. Five days a week consisted of non-stop training for the escape plan. Mondays and Wednesdays were our days of martial arts training in the jungle. I've managed to learn quick with different tactics demonstrated by Albert. From throws, disarms, parries, blocks, and ten different styles of self defense. Tuesdays was focused on the climbing aspect. We climbed on different materials from rock to the trees. I took charge of that day showing the other trainers where to climb and what to keep in mind. Thursdays focused on running. We jogged around the entire camp for about 30 minutes to a good hour. I kept pace with Albert throughout the entire run. Fridays were for competition with the strategizers. If we win a large major of the games, we can spend the week at the waterfall near the mountains.

Everyone has been hard a work to create an escape plan. Ed and Grant have had constant meetings to draw the camp from an eagles perspective. The Herin brothers spent the almost every day constructing weapons and hiding them in the basement. Rei, Kaytlyn and Kacela gathered some poison berries in the jungle and brought it to Ian for construction of a few poisonous darts. The trainers and strategizers have been making collaborative efforts to search for the hole that was blown up by the marines back in the video. Emmott sat on the window, reading his book. He has proven himself to be quite difficult to convince.

Today is the day of a large meeting. It takes place in the cafeteria where we discuss the strategies and our roles in this plan. To start off the day, I go out on an intense game with the other trainers. Albert is hosting a race with a winner getting the opportunity to lead the trainers. Some of the strategizers including Arthur has joined the race.

The race starts at a hand drawn line in front of the cafeteria. The route goes all around the jungle and back to where we start. I get myself to the starting line and started doing my warm ups. A series of stretches, push-ups, crunches, and planks. After finishing up my warm up, Grant, Barlic, and Godfrey join me at the starting line. The rest of the camp is watching. I put on my belt with the tools Ed gave me. Everyone participating has their shirts removed and tossed aside. I get into a starting position and I stare at the path in front of me. The race path leading into the deep, dense jungle. Albert raises his hands high to signal that the race is about to start.

"On your marks. Get set..." Albert shouted and everyone is quiet.

I close my eyes for a second and my mind goes blank. My feet are planted like springs ready to shoot out. I open them back up and my path has become more narrow.

"GO!!!" Albert shouted as he lowers his hand.

The competitors and I start running the race. Godfrey started off too fast along with Arthur while Grant and Barlic manage to keep pace with me. After a minute, we finally made it to the jungle and made the turn. Godfrey and Arthur are starting to slow down from their exhaustion.

"Way to go slow poke!!"Barlic shouted.

"Keep on going man." Grant suggested.

I see a water pit up ahead and a tree with a strong branch. There is a way of running around it, but that would've taken thirty seconds off. I thought of a better idea. I pulled out my grappling hook and throw it over the branch. The hook of the grapple caught the strong branch and I was ready to swing. I jump from the ledge and I hang on to the rope. The wind flowed through my hair as I swing to the other side. When I reach the other side, I manage to land onto the forest floor and unhook the rope from the branch. Grant and Barlic had to run around the muddy pit. I laugh.

"Haha better keep up gang!!!" I shouted.

I continued to run down the dirt path seeing my opponents disappear. I look ahead and see a tree coming my way. The tree itself has a large gap in the middle. Luckily, I manage to jump through the gap. I tucked and rolled back up on my feet. Thank god that parkour is coming into good use. I wasn't surprised that I'm winning so far and all of the sudden I see the wall on my left.  I continue to run faster until something caught my eye.
