Chapter 3

The Ocean of Paradise

Stephen and I arrive at the fifth floor of the ship. I pulled out the card for the room and walked down the hazel hallway. I paid close attention to the numbers on each door until I find the number on the key. When I found room#523, I put the card into the golden slot above the door handle. The light flashed green to signal that the door is unlocked.

"I wonder what is in the room of a cruise ship." I said.

"Maybe it's just a room with dirty sheets on the bed." Stephen replied. "Probably something more embarrassing than staying the night at camp back in third grade.

"Oh please, it can't be any worse than that cabin back in third grade, can it?" I said nervously.

I turned the door handle with excitement, but I ended up running into the door. Stephen started laughing so hard. I caressed my cheek to help dull the pain from the impact. Stephen uses his key and pushes the door open.

"Today, is totally not my..." I was interrupted by the amazing sight of the room." ...day ."

"Now this is so cool " Stephen entered the room with amazement.

The room was like a fantasy that has come to life. The room had ocean blue walls and a soft, white carpet. What's extremely unique about the room is that it has a golden spiraling staircase.
What I didn't expect to find in a room is a fish tank installed into the wall. Upstairs has a little island with the ship's kitchen equipment to make food in case if the service is terrible. Stephen looked out the window with an awe face.

"Wow I can't even remember how beautiful it is to be at sea." Stephen commented. "Just looking at the ocean and the different species surrounding us. It's even better with the cool breeze out in the dock. What do you think Brian?"

I didn't hear him because I was setting up my tools in the bathroom from the teeth brushing tools to the shampoo.

"Brian?" Stephen called me.

"Yea, I'm still here " I said.

"What do you think of the ocean?" He asked curiously.

I walked to the glass door and stared at the endless miles of water in the pacific ocean. The wind starts to flow through my hair as I stepped out onto the dock. I started to think of a good answer and within a few seconds I got one.

"Well besides it being really windy, I can tell that it is wonderful to see it from up here." I said.

Stephen decided to have a better look on deck. He stepped out on the wooden deck and leaned down on the bright white railing. I joined Stephen on the railing and looked down into the Pacific Ocean. Out of nowhere I started to see dolphins swimming around the ship.

"Wow." I smiled because dolphins are my favorite marine animals. The reason I am fascinated with dolphins is because of how playful they are. Despite being just as intelligent as humans, dolphins are the most kind. The dolphins started to do some flips for us to see. I was more fascinated on seeing their abilities in person instead of watching them on YouTube.

"How was that dolphin lover?" Stephen teased me.
"Oh shut up, " I responded.

He continued laughed and out of nowhere, a dolphin came out of the water. I was amazed at how magnificent the dolphin was at doing it's flip. The dolphin dove back into the ocean which caused a massive splash. The water sprayed onto Stephen like a hose. Stephen is left with a shocked expression as his clothes are drenched. I couldn't hold my laughter.

"What are you laughing at?" he asked.

"I think that's the dolphins way of saying Karma's a bitch," I continued laughing.

"Can we go back inside?" Stephen asked.

"Yeah, hopefully we'll have some towels in the bathroom. " I guessed.

As Stephen dries himself off, I checked my phone for any facebook updates like messages from friends and family or some funny Vine videos. I'm usually the biggest internet geek when I am dealing with my excruciating boredom. I clicked out of Vine and decided to look through my photos. I usually have photos of  ideas for future drawings, and memories I had with friends and family. I scrolled down to the current photos and I saw a selfie of me and Allie at the grape field.

"Oh my god, I remember this." I was surprised that I still have that photo.

"What is it?" Stephen asked.

"I have this picture of me and Allie on my phone from when I was with her at the grape field," I replied with tears coming down my cheeks. Stephen came to me to help me out.

Stephen sits beside me on the aqua blue couch. He gives me a pat on the shoulder.

"You are good friend Brian,  I can tell that you have some feelings for her." Stephen said "You are not alone on this journey. Once we land in Honolulu, we'll look every nook and cranny on the island."

"Thanks Stephen, but I don't I'll be able to express my feelings for her since she's dead." I reminded him about the news report.

"Oh don't say that, the truth is that news station can be wrong you know. " Stephen reassured me. "Besides, with a tech genius like me, what can possibly go wrong?
