Chapter 13
The Day of Our Liberation

The next morning, I wake up to Ed with news about last night. I get up to find that Ed has taken the yooperlite from Emmott's secret burial spot. He hands me the rock and I observe it myself. The stone was rounded, a light silver with a few spots of black, and it is about the size of a baseball. I was kind of disappointed that it was not glowing like before. Why isn't glowing like it did every night?

"Wait a minute," Stephen commanded. "I think the reason why it isn't glowing is because it has to be under a UV light. I have a UV light in my bag."

Stephen grabs his bag from the pillar and pulls out a UV flash light. He turns on the UV light and moves the light toward the light. The rock started to glow the golden light that I had witnessed during the first night. I also took notice that the glow patterns share the same equivalence of the nights stars. I found it incredible how such a small rock is able to glow such a bright fluorescent light. Stephen takes the UV light off of it and it returned to normal.

"Put this somewhere safe." I told them.

Ed puts the stone in his bag which is packed with everything he needs. I grabbed the back and carried it on my back. I look outside and I see everyone getting prepared for the escape plan. Godfrey and Jachin are walking along the outside the locked building getting ready to destroy the power box. Godfrey appears to be placing a small pill sized speaker on the ground. What the hell is this kid up to?

Godfrey presses the play button and starts playing some aggressive rock and roll music. I listened carefully to what he is playing on the speaker. Then listening to the song made me realize... is he playing So What by pink? Whatever he's doing, he does has some good taste in music.

We watch through the window as the events unfold. Jachin cracks open the power box door and Godfrey pulls out his axe. On the count of three, Godfrey prepares to swing into the box. He looks to his right and spots a security camera looking at them. He smiled and waved at the camera.

With a quick motion, Godfrey swings the axe into the power box.  Albert runs quickly into the jungle where the harvesters are waiting in the trees. The power goes out and the alarms start to go off in the entire camp. The gates open and the Enigma mercenaries run in. They see Godfrey out in the open field. He tosses a rock in the air and catches it. The mercenaries raise their assault rifles at him.

"Get on the ground and hands in the air you little shit!!" One of the troopers called.

"I got a better idea. If you want me you're gonna have to catch me." Godfrey came back.

He threw the rock at the mercenaries. The rock hit the glass of one of the their helmets causing excruciating pain. Blood splattered on the dirt as the mercenary screams from the impact of the glass. They turn to see Godfrey making a run to the jungles. They raise their rifles and started firing rounds toward Godfrey. Luckily, Godfrey is fast enough to avoid the incoming fire. The sight of Godfrey vanished into the woods along with the troops.

I head downstairs and I see Albert, Grant, and Ed at the door trying to break the locks out with a hammer. I head to them and Ed hands me a hammer. I analyze the lock itself and it looks like it is made sealed shut. I thought about the window and started to run upstairs. I stepped forward and swung towards the glass window. The glass cracked from the impact of the hammer. I struck  again and cracked even more. At the third impact, the glass shatters into a million pieces.

 I grabbed by grapple and hooked on to the windows ledge. Pulling the rope, I made sure that the hook secured into place. I hooked the hammer on to my belt. I begin my descent down to the ground, joining the rest of the group. I land on the ground softly and tugged the rope twice to give the okay. Stephen, Ed, Rei, and Kaytlyn slid down the rope after me.
