Chapter 9
Tower of Power

The next morning, Stephen pushes my arm to wake me up. I groan from being rudely waken up to the sound of a cafeteria bell. I hear a crowd footsteps coming from outside as loud as an army marching to the battlefield. I get up out of bed and headed to the window. Everyone was on there way towards the cafeteria. I put my shoes on and quickly ran downstairs. When Stephen and I ran through the door, the bright beam of the sun hit our faces. I turn to see Ian at the other side of the old wooden door. He unlocks the doors. The doors to the cafeteria open.

"Food is ready ladies and gentlemen. Come and dig in." Ian called out.

Everyone entered through the doors to get their portion of today's meal. They have all lined up at the service table to pick up their metal trays. I looked over the shoulder and spotted today's breakfast. Today's meal was freshly - cooked eggs, bacon, orange juice, and biscuits. I grabbed my portion of the food and headed to the seat assigned to me by Grant. He came to sit next to me along with Kacela.

"Morning gentlemen, how are you guys this morning?" Grant greeted us.

"Could've been better." I replied.

"What's the matter?" Grant asked. "Did something happen?"

"A guy named Arthur happened last night." I told him. "When I was walking to my cabin after supper, he attempted to rape a girl in a not so-sober way. I stood up to him and he retaliated with a raging outburst of fists and chokeholds. Luckily, Albert Jachin was around to immobilize him."

"Albert Jachin? Oh that guy definitely has a reputation of helping others." Grant commented.

"Yeah, he has quite the integrity." I said. "By the way, I've been thinking about what I want to join."

"Oh excellent news, where would you like to be?" Grant was inquisitive for my answer.

"I want to be part of the trainers." I told him out loud.

Grant choked on the orange juice when he heard my answer. Everyone around the table looked at me as if I lost it. Stephen gave him a napkin to clean up the mess. Grant took the napkin and wiped the debris of his chin."

"A trainer? Are you out of your stinking mind?" Stephen asked.

"Have you seen what Albert did last night?" I reminded. "He has the skills I need right now. All of my life I've been dealing with those kind of people. I was always the target of people telling me I can't do jack squat. You know what? That shit has got to stop."

"I understand that you have this need to learn from the trainers, but ask yourself this. Are you prepared for such rigorous routines?" Grant asked.

"No challenge has ever brought me down." I told Grant."Whatever this place has, I'll deal with it head on. What can possibly hold me back out here?"

"A bullet ready to be fired when a rebellious action is made." Grant told me.

"Grant has a point. With that sniper at the wall spying on us, we've got nowhere to go."Albert entered the conversation.

He points out the bamboo made water tower with a sniper looking around the camp. I also see that he is smoking while sitting up there. Now that's a nasty habit for a serious position. I look down to see the old building lying completely isolated.

"Is it even possible to find another way into that building?" I asked.

"I've told you. There is no way of getting in there." Grant told us. "We have a feeling that there could be another way to get into the building, but we don't even know where it could be.
