Chapter 4

The Day of Strange Events

The next morning, I wake up to loud knock on the door. I flipped the scarlet blanket off of the bed. I struggle to climb up out of bed to check who is knocking on the door. I was in a bright, white t-shirt and black boxers. I rub my eyes to wake myself up completely. My hair is poofy like my hair gel has worn out. I grabbed the golden doorknob and turned it. I opened it to see Stephen has breakfast for us.

"Wakey wakey scrambled eggs and bakey." he teases me.

I look at him with wide-eyes to hear those words from him. I look down to find the source of the strong, warm smell of a freshly made breakfast. Large sized pancakes with the side of nicely scrabbled eggs and orange juice in a champagne glass? As Will Smith said it best,"Is this what the people of Bel Air Living Like? Hmm, this might be alright." This was one of those moments where those lyrics perfectly captured this moment.

"Where did you find this?" I smiled.

"They have a restaurant in the lobby, if you want more I'll bring it up." Stephen told me. "Or I'll take it."

"Oh no, this is fantastic. Thanks" I bring breakfast to the table.

Stephen was in his classic black bathrobe and slippers as his usual morning routine. (Don't tell him I said that.) I eat the delicious meal at the table with such speed. I got stuffed as soon as I finished it. I finished up a glass of orange juice that was served by room service.

I went back downstairs to my room to find my black bag near my bed. The bright, lace like sheets were flipped inside out. I unzipped my bag and dug around it to find some clothes for today's weather. I pulled out a red running jacket and black running pants. I pulled out my running schedule and looked at today's date.

"Hmm looks like my day is not too busy. Today does seem like a good day for a run. Time to get that done." I told myself.

I closed my planner and I put on my running clothes. I start warming up with the basic stretches. I stretch my arms, my quadriceps, my calfs, and my ankles. Each muscle that I stretch for today helped loosen me up for the workout I'm about to go through. I got up from the soft floor. I pulled the door open and a little wind hit my face.

I closed the door and I pulled out my phone. I put in my wireless bluetooth headphones and started playing my workout music. The first song that popped up on shuffle was Holiday by Green Day. I put my phone in my pocket and started my run. My strides are quick on the wooden starboard deck. I decided to give myself a little challenge by going up the stairs at the stern of the ship. I decided to stay on the outer docks.

I look at my left side and saw two people having a conversation. A man dressed in all black clothing in his mid thirties. A woman dressed like she was attending a local rave. The woman wore red robes with a hood, and black boots. Her belt was covered in black feathers. Her hair matches the color of her robes.

The woman handed him a piece of paper which looked like it was dipped with coffee tea bags. I assumed it had something to with the treasure hunter themed rave going on tonight. The sand colored flyers are hanging on the walls stating the information in an Indiana Jones format. I leaned against the railing and looked back at the suspicious duo again.

This time the woman's face is revealed to be the woman from the lobby. The one that's been eyeing Stephen for the past few days. What is she up to? As the man turned over her shoulder, I turned the other way and headed back to the room. I quickly head back to my room and slid the door. I locked the door and closed the curtains. I turn around and jumped to see Stephen in front of him. Stephen screams with a high pitch and curls up into a ball.

"Stephen?" I said before calming my breath.

"Where have you been?" Stephen asked. "I've been looking for you throughout the lobby."

"Even when I'm out at sea, I still got to find ways to stay in shape." I replied. "Anything come up while I was away?"

"You have one missed call from the Oak Ridge Community College. Stating that you have been accepted." Stephen Announced.

"Nice." I commented. "Any new sightings on Allie?"

"Still no sign of Allie though," He replied.

"Okay. Anything else?" I asked.

"There is one thing I need help with." Stephen tells me. "Do you remember that one girl from the check-in?"

"You mean that red haired woman from when we checked in two days ago?" I pointed out.

"Yes. That's the one." Stephen smirked.

Stephen pulls out a small dark glass bottle of cologne from his back-pocket. Brian turns around and sees him spraying it all around him.

"Uh Stephen ... Where did you get that?"

"Get what? Oh – uh I found it on our doorstep." He answered "Apparently, this cruise lines reputation for hospitality is not like anything I've encountered before."

"Really..." I replied confusingly.

Stephen continues talking as I walk to the window. I look out the window and spotted the woman in the scarlet raver's outfit walk by. I started to see the strong resemblance. The woman shares the same identical red dyed hair. Same ocean green eyes. I turn to see Stephen holding the flyer to the rave. Oh dear god. The message became so much clear that It's actually hilarious.

"What's so funny?" Stephen asked.

"You are thinking about hooking up with her, aren't you?" I blurted. "I'm no magic genie, but she's been eyeing you throughout this trip."

"SHH Could you keep your voice down?" He pleaded. "She could probably hear us. Do you have any idea how thin these walls are?"

"Don't you think you are overreacting a bit?" I said calmly. " I know a man in love just by looking at him."

"How can you be so sure?" Stephen asked. " you never even been in a relationship?"

"Trust me man. I have many tricks up my sleeve that will help you big time." I replied.

I pull out my bottle of hair gel and brought him into the bathroom. For the past half hour, I applied the study of preparing for dances to the test. I took him shopping to dress up as a raver. We tried out many shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes. I dug through many items to help him stand out. Wristbands, sunglasses, glowing necklaces, and many other items are lined up perfectly. He turn to see that he found a pair of tattoo sleeves and I smacked it out of his hands.

"Put those back." I commanded. "Authenticity is the key to striking a lovely cord."

Stephen puts the tattoo sleeves back. We bought the clothes and the props from the store. We returned to the room and helped him gear up. Stephen puts on the clothes and the props. I helped him apply the hair gel and added some finishing touches. Last, but not least, I gave him my signature aviator sunglasses. I take a step back and admired his look.

"What do you think?" I asked.

Stephen walks into the bathroom and checks himself in the mirror. He looks back at me with a distraught face.

"Like I'm going to frickin' die." He replied.

"Chill out man. You will look fine. Women like her digs a man of great confidence." I reassured. "You, my friend, are like the most confident one on this ship. Since you are heading to the ballroom, my advice is to have fun."

"I don't even go to these things," Stephen reminded me.

"What did Allie use to say? There is a first time for everything." I reminded him.

I guided Stephen to the front door and opened it for him. Stephen walks out the door and turns to him.

"We will find her man." Stephen said.

"I know we will." I replied. "With the tools we have, what can possibly go wrong?"

I closed the door and returned to the bedroom. I hoped onto my phone and began check off the days I achieved my workout day. I'm sure Stephen will have one hell of a good time.
