Louis: “(Y/N)! Hurry up! We’re going to be late!” Louis called upstairs to you.

“I’m coming! I’m just finishing up your mother’s gift!” you called back, tying a bow on the wrapped box. You quickly signed your card and ran downstairs to where Louis was waiting impatiently.

“Finally,” he joked, smiling at you and grabbing your hand. You rolled your eyes and bumped him with your side so that he walked into a door. Louis dropped your hand and staggered backwards, making you laugh out loud despite your nerves.

You were nervous because it was finally time, after two weeks, to tell Louis that you were pregnant. You had found out two weeks ago when you realized that your period was five days late. You had taken a pregnancy test, and discovered that you were pregnant. The first person you called was your mother, and you both screamed and cried with joy for hours on end. For a whole week, you had tried to think of a creative way to tell Louis. And then it hit you. His mother’s birthday was coming up.

And so here you were, in the car on your way to his family’s home for a birthday dinner. You had the present at your feet, along with two homemade cards; one of you and the other from Louis. Louis was driving, one hand on the wheel and the other holding yours in the middle, gently rubbing the back of it. The whole way, you stared out the window and listened as Louis sang softly to the radio, your nerves starting to consume you.

What if Louis didn’t want a baby yet? I mean, you weren’t even engaged. You were just dating. What if he thought it was too serious for just a couple? What if he decided to leave you? All it would take was a couple of words.

Before you knew it, you were at the house, and Louis’s family was running out to greet you guys. Phoebe and Daisy leaped right into Louis’s arms, while Fizzy leaped on his back and Lottie gave you a bear hug. Jay came out of the house, wiping her hands on a dish towel and smiling widely. “Louis,” she greeted, wrapping her son in a huge hug. “(Y/N),” she said, hugging you next. You hugged her back.

“Happy Birthday, Jay,” you sang, making Jay give you a playful death glare. She laughed and ushered you all in the house.

“Come on, guys. Dinner’s on the table already. And don’t think I haven’t seen Phoebe trying to sneak some icing from the cake,” she called out, making Phoebe blush wildly. You grabbed the present and cards from the car, and Louis locked it, following his mother into the house. The seven of you sat at the table, laughing and eating for two hours. Stories were shared, and it got to the point where everyone was telling memories from previous birthdays they’ve had. You never felt closer to Louis’ family than you did now. Louis’ mum and sisters were great at making sure you felt like part of the family, and you have felt part of the family for five years now. But nothing was more precious than sharing family stories with people you care about.
