Let me first start by saying that this might be the longest thing I have ever written. That said, please enjoy!

***Six Months Later***

“Syd! C’mon! We’re going to be late for Harry’s and Niall’s presentation!” I called out to Sydney, brushing my hair as I walked through the apartment. We had both woken up late, but we had also promised Harry and Niall that we would be there to support them for their midterm presentation.

Sydney and I had already completed our midterm presentations, so we were officially on a four-week break from school. This week’s presentations were for the musical department, and Harry’s and Niall’s was the second to the last presentation before everyone was on break. The school decided it didn’t want to waste its time having us take test after test on math and science when those weren’t even the things that we came here to study. So the board decided that for midterms and finals, each student would have to present their major (i.e. art, photography, writing, singing, etc.) to a panel of professors, who would grade them individually and then average their grades together for the final grade.

Sydney emerged from the bathroom, holding up two different tops. “Which one?”

“Does it matter?” I sighed exasperatedly, deciding on putting my hair in a side braid today.

She gave me a look that could kill. “If you were a guy, which would you prefer?” she asked me in monotone, lifting the shirts higher.

I tapped my chin before pointing to a bright blue blouse with buttons going down the center that she held in her left hand. She nodded and threw the blouse on, fluffing up her hair before walking out of the bathroom. “Bathroom’s open.”

“Thanks,” I hissed sarcastically, and she gave me a wide smile in return.

“Hey, could you pass me my camera? I want to record their presentation.”

“Sure. Where is it?” I asked, throwing my braid over my shoulder.

“In my desk. Top drawer on the left.”

I nodded, even though she wasn’t facing me, and made my way over to her desk, glancing into our little kitchen area as I went. “Remind me we have to go shopping later.”

Sydney groaned audibly. “Why do we always have to go shopping?”

“Because we eat so much and then never have any food.”

“You can say that again,” I heard her mumble in reply.

I rummaged through her drawer, finally spotting the camera and pulling it out. As I emerged with the camera, a couple of pieces of paper fell to the floor, and I bent to pick them up. I took a peek at them, and a sigh made its way to my mouth. Shutting the drawer, I walked over to Sydney, tapping her on the shoulder with her camera. She whirled around, taking the camera from me with a smile. “What’s that?” she asked, pointing to the pictures in my hand as she checked her camera’s battery life.
