Elena wasn't unpopular-she just wasn't popular. That was just something she had to deal with. Her name was easily forgotten and her life story was just plain boring. She was an only child and lived in an apartment with her dad, and she never knew her mother. Elena attended Oakswood high; it was the epitome of stereotypical drama. Drama was something she could never wrap her head around, she was never bullied so there wasn't any need for drama right? She had colleagues but nobody she could ever associate as a "friend". Overall, Elena was as bland as a Saltine cracker.

Everything was normal and peaceful until her dad said that he didn't want to be a chiropractor anymore and that he wanted to be a real doctor. Elena didn't think of it as anything major of course, her dad had gone through plenty of phases before. There was one where he wanted to be an actor, play drums, or even the one where he wanted to be the mascot for Frosted Flakes' cereal, that was a really weird one. Her dad never got rid of the drums so Elena still played them every now and then. That was why it surprised her when her dad went through with it. He was determined to do this and give his daughter a"better life". Elena still wasn't sure what he meant by that part,"better life", it seemed ominous.

Her father settled on the University of Washington, which  seemed like the middle of nowhere to Elena. That University would teach him all about being a professional doctor like he wanted so she had to support him, right?  It was official she was moving to Seattle, Washington. Her dad was born there so he was pumped to see his childhood home on the outskirts of the city again. Luckily, the college was on the side of town that was never really busy and was pretty tranquil. They lived pretty far away so they would be flying there. Elena didn't feel ready for some reason, normally she wouldn't care about these things but she felt like her entire life was going to change and she didn't have a say in any of it.
