Cole immediately shut the door in his face and pushed Elena further into the house. He let out a sigh, "I can't believe that, he only did that so that you could be a better target!" Cole shouted. Elena just stared at him, "...T-Thank you.." she muttered. "Of COURSE! That guy was insane, Elena! I was not going to let you...never mind," Cole exclaimed. Elena nodded, "I should've been more careful. That was an obvious attempt to kill me, even if the assassin didn't get me he probably planned you to kill me and go with them. I was being naïve." Cole was astounded, "Am I really the only dragon that doesn't want to do that? I mean nobody should take pleasure in...that." Elena nodded, "I had no idea the Dragon Resistance was such a big group."
"Well of course they're big, dragons have always been the most powerful creatures and they've been fighting to be on top for centuries. If people like your mother and father weren't around then we probably would've taken Areagore over by now." Cole explained. "Cole, I think we need to go to Ludenville before the assassin finds out we know where he is." Elena stated. "But he was here right? He might still be out there waiting for us to leave. He must've heard you explaining all that you knew about him, there's no way we can do that." Cole retorted. Elena sighed, "Can we at least check with their police force to track down this guy's identity?" Cole hastily nodded, "But I'm going, they'll kill you on the spot and they only want me as a recruit, okay?" Elena quickly agreed but Cole continued, "But...uhh...what's a poe-leece?" Elena giggled, "Just track him down~"
Cole entered the busy city of Ludenville, "P-Poe...lyce? No, that's not right..." he mumbled. "E-Excuse me? Are y-you a-alright?" someone asked. Cole quickly flicked his black hair out of his face and looked in the direction of the voice. "Haven't I met you before?" Cole asked. The small pixie nodded her head, "I-I'm Evelyn, not that you w-would remember t-that a-anyways...Why a-are you h-here?" Cole whispered, "Don't tell anyone...I'm looking for a p-poeleece!" Evelyn gasped, "W-What's t-that?!" Cole replied, "I have no idea."
After explaining his mission to Evelyn she quickly volunteered to help him. "I-I was just g-going to g-get some extra nuts f-for t-the squirrels f-for hibernation so I c-can help you...only if y-you w-w-want!" she stuttered. "Yeah, thanks," Cole replied, "I have to hunt down you-know-who. He's a redhead dragon who has a brother who lives in the middle of nowhere but he lives here. That's all I really know." Evelyn began to shake, "O-Oh no..." she mumbled. Cole asked, "What's wrong?" "N-Nothing!" she squeaked, "I will h-help you...to the b-best of my abilities..." She seemed suspicious but Cole hastily agreed, she helped Elena so she must be trustworthy right?
Elena felt worried and completely useless, she was a sitting duck! If the assassin was still there she would be an easy target. Elena got up and closed all of the windows and blinds, it wouldn't change anything but it made her feel a little better. "I hope Cole's okay...I doubt that guy even stuck around though." she muttered. The door quickly flung open and Elena screamed, "IT'S HAPPENING!!!!" Monica peered from the doorway, "I'm not even going to ask..." Elena let out a loud sigh of relief, "You finally came!" Monica shook her head in disgust, "Unlike some people I was trying to solve a mystery!" Elena laughed, "That's a relief, Cole and I found out a lot and we didn't know if we could catch you up. What did you find?" Monica began to sweat a little nervously, "I-I...uh...they used a...gun?" Elena nodded and giggled, "Very good! I found that the assassin was a man related to my kidnapper and they both work for the Dragon Resistance. He was the same person who shot the old king and he used some type of sniper rifle. He has red hair and lives in Ludenville." Elena calmly explained. "Y-Yeah, I knew that you dumby!" Monica replied. "Of course you did!" Elena sarcastically retorted.
Evelyn nervously followed behind Cole, with all of the hints he gave...that meant the assassin was her childhood friend...Karzen. She had taught him how to fly when he was a small dragon but she lost contact with him when he left to live with his brother named Azmend. She couldn't help but blame herself, if she had stayed with him maybe he wouldn't have done any of this. Now he would definitely be killed for his crimes and there was nothing Evelyn could do.
