Elena just figured out that their little "field trip" didn't allow luggage so she was jamming on her drums, savoring them as long as she could. They were her dad's when he went through his drum phase but he eventually got bored and Elena took them. Right now she felt like she was dying, these drums were her first friends and now they were being left behind-FOR THE ENTIRE SUMMER! Elena's dad planned the trip to be a couple of weeks but little "I'm-a-lonely-dragon-boy" insisted they stay for as long as possible.
Little did she know that these bottled up feelings were erupting into a crazy drum solo that would put the heaviest of heavy metal drummers to shame. Adbjorn knew she was feeling angry but he needed to know what had happened to his home over the years. He was on his way to talk it out with her before hearing her belt it out onto her drum set. His eardrums shook but something deep within him told him that she needed a friend right now.
"Excuse me, human?" his words were lost in the musical thunderstorm. "E-Elena!?"she kept pounding against the instrument,"Friend?" she perked her head up, "I don't have any." "Huh? I'm you're friend, right?"now he was thoroughly confused. "You fit the dictionary's definition, do you not feel the same?" She stared in awe, Elena had never had a friend before but now her dragon was throwing around that title like it was nothing! "We're not...friends..-yet.My only friends are my drums ," "But what about older male human-I mean- your dad?" "Parents don't really count, y'know?" she had quit playing altogether now. "Elena I want to be your friend!" he exclaimed. "Um...maybe...later," she still wasn't convinced that anyone would ever like her enough to truly have a mutual friendship.
"Where's Dad?" Elena began to walk downstairs from her bedroom-which was now finally fully furnished by the way! "Getting the portal ready," he quickly responded,"Do you have family in Areagore?" "Um...my dad's from there but I don't know if anyone is still over there," Then the two arrived at the basement door,"Drums aren't people," Adbjorn simply stated. "What?"Elena didn't understand that at all, "My drums are my friends-my ONLY friends so I can treat them as people if I please to, thank you very much." Deep down she knew they would never provide a friendship anywhere close to a human one but they were good enough for her-right? "Hiya, kiddos! The school bus is almost ready so be patient with me!" her dad's familiar voice resounded from her basement. "Clever, that's how he's taking us to Areagore.." her dragon commented. "A SCHOOL BUS?!" Her dragon corrected her, "A magic school bus, Elena."
