Chapter 35

I feel a shoulder shaking me awake, I'm still wrapped in Brennan's arms, thinking its Caleb I panick and sit up, waking Brennan. I look up to see Abby instead and give her a look to let her know this isn't what it looks like. She suggests Brennan leaves before Caleb sees him and gets mad. I agree with her and Brennan begins to collect his things, but not before Caleb comes barging in, "Abby I've been looking everywhere for you-" he stops when he sees Brennan. "What is this?" He yells, his face twist into anger. "Get out!" He yells at Brennan, and doesn't give me time to explain before yelling for me to get out too. I panick as I realize my stuff is everywhere but he shoos me out and I only get to grab my purse. I barely make it out to Brennan's car before he pulls off, but he stops to let me in. I can't tell if he's mad at me, but I assume not because he grabs my hand, squeezes it, and hold it till we get downtown. "where do I stay now?" I begin to cry and he squeezes my hand tighter. "You can stay with be, my mom won't mind" he stops at a red light and kisses me. When we get downtown we go into a couple of clothing stores "I never got you any presents" he says "so pick some things out" I browse the isles and pick out a white lace flowly long sleeved shirt, and one similar but with only a bit of lace and a floral pattern. We go into one more store where I get a pair of jeans and a new bathing suit. My phone buzzes in my pocket, it's a text from Abby, it explains that she has my stuff and wants to meet me in the parking lot of a small bakery. I explain to Brennan that I don't want to hold him up so he drops me off where my car is downtown. My conversation with Abby is short and sweet, she says sorry about ten times and hands my stuff over, including the snacks. I thank her and get into my car. I'm emotionally and physically drained to I decide I need a coffee, something to perk me up. The coffee shop isn't to crowded, but Brennan's jacket catches my eye. There he is, hugging a girl who I've never seen before, my heart sinks and I don't know what to expect, I open the door and the bell rings, catching Brennan's attention. He turns around and his eyes get wide, he can see the hurt in mine. "No no no" he shakes his hands "she's my cousin, annie, meet Eden" he point back and forth. I let out a sigh of relief as she smiles warmly and hugs me. This was something I didn't know I needed, a sence of relief.
