Chapter 36

Edens smile is warm and sweet, so are her hugs. I step back out of the hug and explain I'm going to get a coffee. I order a freestyle coffee, where I get to put as much of each thing as I like, I fill it up less than halfway with coffe and full the rest with creamer before adding a few packs of sugar and sitting back down with Brennan and Eden. "So what brings you here all the way from...." I begin but I don't know where she's from. "California" she smiles, she doesn't strike me as a California girl, she seems like she'd fit in just right here, but who am I to question her? We keep up a small conversation as I day dream about California, we used to go there all the time to visit my moms aunt, last time we were there was for her funeral. I want to go back so badly but mom says we have no reason and are about as far away as we could get. I dream of the warm beaches and sun shining down, pools, good food, famous attractions, I miss living where it was warm most of the time. Here it's almost always bitterly cold. "You guys should come visit me" she smiles, at that my face lights up. "Your adorable" Brennan laughs and I blush, still beaming. "Yeah, I mean I leave in a week, I've got a big house right on the beach, plenty of room, you guys could come back with me for a week or so, there's some great colleges out there to!" She smiles. This gets me more excited, the thought of living in Cali and going to college there is amazing! My parents and hayley will be back in four days, I'm about to call my mom for permission when Eden suggests we go get some dinner. I realize how long it's been, it's almost night. No calls or texts from Caleb, he knows mom locked the house up and my keys broke so I can't stay there, but he must also know I'm staying with Brennan. I sigh and stand up, following Eden and Brennan out the door. Brennan slows down a bit and grabs my hand, kissing it, "it's ok, if he knew you weren't safe he'd call, he knows your staying with me, and he knows your so stubborn that you'd just show up to his house and demand to be let in if you didn't have a place to stay" he smiles, this makes me laugh and brightens my spirits. We come up to the small Italian place where me and Brennan went on one of our first dates. We walk in and are seated. As I'm looking throught the menu I get a call from mom, little do I know it's a call that will change my life forever.

Sorry you guys had to wait so long for this chapter, I got back from camp and while I was there I hurt my foot, we went to the doctor and it turns out I broke the growth plate in my heel! I'm in a boot and on crutches for 4-5 weeks! )
