TDWT: Miranda's Way (Episode 20: Chinese Fake-Out)

Alejandro's POV:

I was overjoyed that butter donkey was finally gone. I finally got a decent sleep last night.

It was about noon by now, and everyone in Economy Class was up and about.

Sierra was typing on her laptop while Cody was sulking over his marriage situation, which I found quite amusing.

And as for my beautiful bride, Miranda was typing on her phone with earbuds in, typical of her, really.

It was nice to call her my ally now. The teams were really holding me back. But now that I have her and her alone on my side, the path to victory was in plain sight.

The only reason I held back in Niagara Falls to save my strength and not attract too much attention to others. Yes, I was a big threat. But, no one needed to know that.

As for Miranda, she is a vote I can count on, a helpful partner, and a bragging right. I love her, of course, and I almost told her that. But it's in my best interest that she doesn't know I love her, for the time being at least.

If I told her my feelings, I don't know how she'd take it. Would she be happy or would she merely shrug it off and focus more on the competition? From what I've seen from her throughout the game, she's had a very strong infatuation towards me. However, there are times I question if it's genuine emotion.

I'm fully aware that she watches the show, so what if she's picked up on some of Heather's tactics and is pulling me along on a string?

I shouldn't question it. She wouldn't do something like that. This is Miranda. The sweetest girl I've ever met. She wouldn't use me.

Miranda soon came over to sit by me, bumping my arm with her elbow playfully.

"Hey, you." she grinned.

I smiled back. "Hola, mi dulce. How are you on this fine morning?"

She shrugged. "Still kinda bummed Owen's gone, but otherwise I'm pretty good."

"No need to worry for him, love. He was a threat who needed to be dealt with."

Suddenly, the PA system came on, but it wasn't our sadistic host.

It was a brattier, more annoying hostess.

"Attention, fellow passengers! Feeling alone in the game? Looking for an ally you can call your very own? Consider joining forces with me! You won't regret it! This promise is not legally binding. Offer may be withdrawn at any time."

I rolled my eyes. I already had my ideal partner.

Cody starting moping again.

"She wants to throw a reception for us when we get home. She wants to get one of those cupcake cakes, and spend the whole day smashing icing into each other's faces!"

I smiled, wrapping an arm around him. "They say it's always best for a husband to indulge his wife."

Miranda looked confused. "Huh? They're not married. It was just a challenge."

"But they are! I saw it myself!" I countered.

"How? There's no marriage certificate, no rings, or paparazzi photos!"

"No...that's true! That's true!" Cody smiled.

She smirked. "Please, you're just as married as Ale and I are."

That got me to smirk flirtatiously at her.

"Mi angel, I know you crave Alejandro like a baked chicken carves mole sauce, but marriage? Aren't you...rushing things?"
