Katniss is your typical 16 year old. She goes to Hunger games high (HG high) she lives with her mother and little sister Prim.
Her dad died in mine tour explosion when Katniss was 11. Katniss' mother suffered depression and didn't do anything for 3 years. She finally stopped getting depressed and moved on with life. Katniss trusts her but Prim and her mother are closer. Her mother works as a part time doctor but only on some days.
