Imagine... everyone is born with a date on their wrist-- the day they will meet their soulmate.

Ever since Nico was a young boy, he always wondered why the numbers on his wrist read more than sixty years.

73 years: 245 days: 12 hours: 32 minutes: 9 seconds.

There were rumors about those numbers. He's heard that once the numbers reach zero, it changes to the name of your soulmate. Until marriage or death, the name is then replaced by a date.

Nico was skeptical of the whole concept.

Most of his friends believed it.

It confused him most of the time. What most confused him was his sister; she didn't have any numbers on her arms. Others considered her different-- an outsider. But Nico still saw her as a normal being. She was one of those who didn't have a soulmate. She would be single forever, but that didn't bother her at all. Bianca enjoyed the freedom of not having to be tied down by a relationship.

Now, here he was seventy-three years later, trembling as masses of demigods cheered from defeating Gaea.

He stared at his wrist, seeing the numbers slowly tick down.

4 minutes: 36 seconds.

He's been waiting for this nearly his entire life. Now, he was a nervous wreck, attempting to keep his feelings under his control. He failed to hide how he felt, the vegetation within a meter of him withered and died.

1 minute: 3 seconds.

He tucked his Stygian sword away and began to weave through the crowd of Roman and Greek demigods.

5 seconds.

4 seconds.

3 seconds.

2 seconds.

1 second.

0 seconds.

The numbers changed to a name: (y/n) (l/n).

That was when a girl bumped into him and pushed him down on accident. (He was still weak from shadow traveling.) "Sorry, Nico," you mumbled an apology.

You took off your cavalry helmet, revealing your (h/c) luscious hair.

Nico swore, he's never seen you before but some how you knew his name. But that's when he noticed you wore a purple shirt instead of orange.

That's why Nico didn't know you. All Romans knew his name, but he didn't know theirs.

You held out your hand but a teasing smile stayed on your face. "Are you only going to stare at me all day long or what, di Angelo?"

Nico took your hand and let you pull him up to to his feet.

"What?" you asked as he continued to stare as if he's seen a ghost. "Do I have blood on my face?"

"N-no." He shook his head while turning slightly green. "I-I think I might be sick."

Nico doubled over with his hands on his knees.

"Are you serious? We just won a battle!" you moved your feet out of the way just in case he actually did become sick. You placed a hand on his shoulder. "Let's get you to the infirmary." Nico gave you directions to where Camp Half-Bloods infirmary was and you took him there. Although there were many times where you caught the son of Hades when he tripped over his own feet.

You tried your best not to laugh but you couldn't help it. For some reason, he was nervous and you couldn't tell why. This wasn't the ambassador of Pluto that you knew.

"I'll see you later, Nico. I hope you feel better!" you called out as he was whisked away by Will Solace before he could say anything.

You rubbed your forearms where you had cuts from swords and daggers. You didn't need ambrosia to heal yourself, you could live with the idea of having a couple of scars and temporary scabs.

Your eyes caught sight of your arm. Your stomach dropped as you read a name instead of numbers.

Nico di Angelo.
