*3 months forward*
"Dan, do you have all your things packed?" His mother shouted from downstairs.
"Yeah I think so" he shouted back, then looked over to Phil, "damn, this thing is heavy."
Phil let out a chuckle to hide is pain. He had already gone off to university and started his classes, but he was able to sneak in a couple visits to Dan. Now that they'd both have classes and what not, there's no way to tell how often they'd see each other.
"Let me carry it for you." Phil offered.
"Oh you and your thin little arms would break from lifting this thing." Dan teased him, poking at his thin stomach, which was much much better from when they first met.
They both walked down the stairs to Dan's mom, who was holding a box of tissues.
"Are you sure you don't want me to go down with you to the dorms, what if it's not safe?" She asked between sniffles.
"Yes honey, he's sure." Dan's father came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. "You crying on campus would only embarrass him more."
"I'll be safe, mom. And I'll come back and visit every single time I have the chance." He said and grabbed his keys, but then running back to them. "I'll miss you two, thanks for taking care of me as a kid."
Dan wrapped his arms tightly around his parents for a hug. His mom broke into sobs but his father stayed strong. Even Phil teared up looking at the site.
"Okay sweetie we love you so much. Have fun, but not too much fun." She yelled as he walked out the door.
"I love you too."
His parents followed Dan and Phil out the door and watched as they got into the car. They drove away, and from the rear view mirror, you could see his parents waving goodbye with tears in their eyes.
"God, that was emotional." Dan chuckled, still wiping a tear he hid in his eye.
"That was so bittersweet. I should've given them a hug, I'll miss them too." Phil let out a laugh.
The drive to the campus was dreadful. They didn't have much to talk about except for how much they'd miss each other. The taste it left in their mouth was awful, but the radio blasted over any words they would say.
After hours of pointing out any pretty sites, turning on random radio stations and trying to name the song before the other person, and singing their hearts out, they finally reached the dorms.
"Well, here it is." Dan choked.
The building was very tall. It had a pointed top and looked rather old, but it was nothing compared to the university itself which reminded them of a castle.
"It fits very well for my prince." Phil chirped as they walked out of the car and held hands.
Dan had a place to start over. Everyone could know that he was bisexual without causing problems. Hopefully there were no homophobes in his university, or especially in his dorm. If there were, he wouldn't get involved, he learned the hard way.
They passed plenty of hectic people on their way up. Mom's crying as they hugged their son goodbye for the last time, loud music blaring through the halls, seniors teasing, or helping, the freshman, and people flirting in the hallways already. So I suppose some people aren't even straight let alone homophobic.
"Room 134, this is it." Dan sighed, "God I wish there was an elevator in this place."
"That could help at lot." Phil chuckled in response. He glanced around at Dan's rather small room.
