A werewolf (also known as a lycanthrope, loup-garou, or rougarou) is basically a human who can turn into a wolf, or possibly some kind of human-wolf hybrid. This may be a voluntary transformation, or it might just be automatic under a full moon. Lycanthropy is contagious, so you'll want to avoid getting scratched or bitten unless you're some kind of wolfkin. Werewolves can be killed with a shot from a silver bullet. No idea how people killed them before guns were invented.
