Chapter 19 | Ears?

[GAREKI'S PV]

I climbed to the top bunk and lied down, hands behind my head. I stared at the ceiling for a while until I heard moving. I leaned over the rail of the top bunk to see [your name] getting up. Something was different though... cat... ears? She stretched out her arms and let out a silent yawn.

'WHAT THE HELLLLLLLLLL?????" I jumped up at the sight and hit my head hard on the roof.

"Gaaaaaaah!" I held my head in pain as I checked to see if the roof was damaged.

"Keep the ruckus down will ya?" Yogi rose from the bed and look at me.

I pointed to [your name] and Yogi slowly looked at her.

"Waaaaaaa~ SO CUTE!!!" Yogi raced to the bottom bunk and began playing with her cat ears.

[YOUR PV]

Yogi raced towards me and started playing with something above my head.

"Yogi? What are you..." I suddenly realised what was on my head.

"Cat ears, cat ears, cat ears, cute cat ears!" Yogi kept repeating as he smiled cheerfully.

"WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS???!!!" I jumped up and started feeling the furry ears on my head.

"WHEN DID THIS???? HOW DID THIS???" I looked at Gareki who was equally surprised.

"Maybe it's a side effect of earlier?" Gareki looked confused now.

"We should go to Dr. Akari... He'll know what to do!" Yogi began walking towards the door when a loud scream came from the hallway.

My ears pricked up and I stared at the door.

"What was that?" we all whispered as we glanced from the door to each other.

Everything was silent and no one moved.

"WILL YA KEEP THAT GUN UNDER CONTROL?"an angry voice outside said.

"WELL I'M SORRY THAT I HUNT FOR A LIVING! I HEARD SOME DONKEYS SCREECHING SO I THOUGHT I'D SCARE THE FOXES AWAY!"another voice replied, just as angry.

"WILL YA BOTH JUST SHUT UP NOW AND TAKE YOUR SCREECHING DONKEYS AWAY?I'M TRYNNA SLEEP HERE!" a third voice yelled, and after it was quiet.

"I-I think, we... were the donkeys..." I said, a bead of sweat rolling down my temple.

"We'll go to Dr. Akari tomorrow. We should sleep first." we all lied back in bed and closed our eyes.

Morning had arrived and the sun was shining through the room's window. We all woke up and let out a stretch and yawn.

"So... how are we gonna do this?" I looked at the two, hoping for an answer but they just stared at me blankly.

[GAREKI'S PV]

[your name] asked how we were gonna get out of the room. Now that she had... cat... ears, it was hard to get out of the inn. I looked down at my cloak and an idea popped into my head. I had a few looks at the size difference and made my mind.

"Here, put this on." I threw my cloak at her.

"Do you fit in it?" I followed my last sentence with.

"Sadly it's way too small for me. Must be because your ego is so small you need to follow up your nice words with words to make the other person feel bad." she chucked the coat on and covered her cat ears with the hood.

"Man you just got roasted!" Yogi hit Gareki's back and they both smirked at me.

"You guys are lame, you know that right?" I began turning for the door.

"Not as lame as you." [your name] replied back, walking towards the door too.

"You guys fight like an old married couple." Yogi began walking towards us when we stopped and turned to face him.

"WE AREN'T MARRIED, WE AREN'T A COUPLE AND WE AREN'T FIGHTING!"

"Ok-ok-ok! Calm your farms guys." Yogi raised his hands slightly while saying that.

"Whatever." I sighed and reached for the door handle.

We can't be suspicious, or they might expect something and we have to get her out of the inn before anyone notices the triangular shape in the hood. I turned the door handle and opened the door.
