Chapter 23 | Weight

I opened my eyes to find Gareki, hovering over me, and behind him was... Yogi?

"[your name] are you ok?" Yogi asked me as he used his magic to hold up the rubble.

"E-e-yeah..." I looked at them both.

"Gareki, get her out of here and wait for me outside." He eyed Gareki.

"Yogi?" we both looked at him.

What was he doing?

"I can only hold this up for so long so get out before it all caves in!"

Gareki helped me up and we both ran out. At this point I didn't care if my legs were in agonizing pain. We had to get out fast so that Yogi could get out. We got to the outside and Gareki yelled to Yogi.

"All Clear!" and suddenly the roof caved in.

I stood there speechless. Where did Yogi go? I began to get worried, then a small figure jumped out from the debris.

"[Your name] are you ok?" Yogi landed and hugged me tight.

I fell into him as he pulled me swiftly into his chest.

"Y-Yogi!" Gareki pushed Yogi away.

"Oh Gareki? Is everything ok?" He looked at him with a hurt expression.

[GAREKI'S PV]

Yogi pulled [your name] into his chest and suddenly I pushed him away.

"Y-Yogi!"

"Oh Gareki? Is everything ok?" He looked at me.

I realised what I had done and quickly let go of her.

"OH SHOOT!" I swore.

Why did I do that? Now he's definitely gonna suspect it! Need. To. Change. The. Topic!

"Oh, your ears!" I pointed at the cat ears on her head.

"Waaa~ Don't mention them!" She blushed slightly and covered them with her hands.

"Akari might know how to fix it." Yogi looked around.

"Where's the other one gone?"

"The doctor?" I asked.

"Yeah... he wasn't there when I let the roof go." Yogi began to think.

"If we wait here we don't know when he'll decide to come back. Let's just go clean up [your name] and get the ears off her." He said as he slowly began walking.

[Your name] looked in pain as we began to walk. She limped slightly and tripped over a twig.

I caught her mid fall.

"Aren't cats supposed to land on their feet?" I looked at her.

Although it was a joke I said it with a straight face. I heard her giggle slightly and she put on a weak smile.

"Hold on." I picked her up, wedding style and she quickly gripped my neck with her arm.

I saw her pupils dilate and go back to the size they were before as.

"You were scared?" I let out a small giggle as I replayed her face in my mind.

"Oooh Gareki getting comfy?" Yogi gossiped.

"N-No! T-that's not... what it is..." My words turned to a whisper as I got to the end of the sentence and I could feel my cheeks begin to heat.

Damn Yogi! Always talking like that.

[YOUR PV]

"Oooh Gareki getting comfy?" Yogi grinned.

"N-No! T-that's not... what it is..." I heard Gareki's last few words but I don't think Yogi heard them.

"Come on Gareki! Just Ki-" Yogi was cut off.

"YOGI ZIP IT!" He looked pissed now.

Gareki finally snapped. I didn't get what was such a big deal though.

"Gareki?" I looked up at him and he calmed down.

"Whatever, we need Dr. Akari to fix you up." He continued in his tracks and we neared the airship.

[GAREKI'S PV]

By now it was pretty dark and we could barely see each other. [Your name]'s arm slid down to her side, off my shoulder. I heard her let out a small sigh.

"Hey, [your name]?" she didn't answer.

Asleep? I tried to see her face but it was too dark. I couldn't even see my own feet at the moment.

"Here." Yogi pointed at the ship.

"How are we gonna do this?" I looked down at her.

We were both close to the same age, she was just a year younger. Yogi had carried [your name] and I before but this time she was asleep. She was much lighter when she was awake and now I could feel that someone was in my arms. She was like a feather at the beginning. Instantly, it reminded me of what I said to her first.

'Making me carry your heavy body all the way to the ship... YOU'RE KILLIN' MY BACK!' was one of the things I had told her... I wonder if she still remembers? I felt a sudden feeling of regret. She hadn't actually been heavy at the time... I was just pissed.

"Gareki, hold her and I'll carry you two up there." Yogi came towards me.

"Can you stop making things awkward Yogi?" I looked at him in frustration.

"Well if you wanna know how she feels you gotta tell her or show it!" for someone who was 21 years old and still cried like a 5 year old and hugged teddy bears he gave pretty good advice.

"Also, when we get in the ship I want you to tell me why you hesitated back there, Ok?" He looked at me, dead in the eyes.

I nodded to him and soon we were all back up in the ship.
