Chapter 20 | Doctor

Gareki opened the door of our room and we walked out swiftly. We handed the keys back to the innkeeper and walked into the streets.

"Now whatta we do?" I looked at the two, still covered by the hood.

"There's a local medic here that can see if it was caused by magic or... maybe it's a side effect from yesterday?" Yogi put one finger on his chin as he thought hard.

"This way." He began walking, Gareki and I following close behind him.

"Waaa~ Cute clothes for you!" I heard Yogi say and my ear twitched towards his voice.

He was looking at a store with... female clothing.

"Yogi... you're a girl???" I looked at him with a confused look.

"Not for him dummy, for you." Gareki started dragging me towards the store.

"I thought we were going to that doctor, medic thingy..." I said, reluctantly being dragged by him towards the store.

We entered the store and told me to pick out something that would cover my cat ears for the time being. They had cute dresses, one dress was all black and had a hoodie attached.

"This one?" I pointed at it and Yogi suddenly threw some black cat designed stockings at me.

"With these!" He looked at Gareki with a goofy grin.

"What the hell?" We both looked at Yogi.

We asked the lady if we could keep it on and pay for it and she agreed. I handed Gareki his cloak back and we walked out of the store.

"Now to the medic person!" all three of us ran for the last half of the walk, since it was beginning to get dark.

[GAREKI'S PV]

Man why does she have to have cat ears out of all the possible animals? I got a... thing... for cats... WHAT AM I THINKING? Stay focused Gareki! Ohhh but she looks so cute! I wanna pet her now... maybe if Yogi and her fall asleep I can... GAREKI NO DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

I hadn't realised that we had arrived and walked into the back of [your name].

"O-oh sorry..." I could feel my face flush pink and I quickly walked in front of her.

"Is this it?" I asked Yogi and he nodded.

I bit my lip and then grabbed [your name] by the wrist and dragged her inside. We reached the reception and I flung off her hoodie.

"Do you have a doctor that can fix this?" I spoke, half irritated at the fact that we had to stop by to get her something to cover up her ears, and half kicking myself for thinking weird things.

"Oh my! Come this way!" a doctor came into the room and signaled us to follow him.

You two, only one of you can come with her.

A man came out and told us to come with him but, only one of the two could come with us. Either Gareki or Yogi.

"Why can't they both come?" I eyed him and caught his gaze.

"Because only three people are allowed in the rooms at a time. One doctor and two clients." he replied.

I found it very weird but in the end, Gareki came with me and Yogi waited outside. As we walked past I couldn't help but notice how many doors there were... the corridor was quite small, but there were around ten rooms, five on one side and five on the other. I thought I could hear faint screaming, but I might just be hearing things. The man led us to the last room in the corridor and we entered it. It was quite dark and didn't smell the nicest. I couldn't see till the end of the room, since the lights weren't on. It was cold as well. I could see a figure of something at the back of the room... a machine? The doctor closed the door and my eyes adjusted to the dark room. I could make out the figures much better now, and when I did, my eyes grew wide. I slowly turned to Gareki, who seemed to have noticed what it was as well.

"I-I think there's somewhere we have to be... s-sir." I stuttered as I slowly walked back towards the door.

"Yeah, I just remembered, we have to meet someone and it takes a while to get there." Gareki too, was backing towards the door.

I grabbed the door handle which, to my surprise, wasn't locked. Violently, I pushed down on the door handle and pivoted on my toe. I swung the door open and we both ran out.

"HEY! WHERE DO YOU TWO THINK YOU'RE GOING?" the so called 'doctor' was running after us.

He was getting closer to us and soon he was an arm's length away from us. I came to a halt and swung my leg around, kicking him diagonally in the shoulder.

"Shoot!" I cursed under my breath as he grabbed hold of my ankle. Gareki grabbed my arm and pulled out his gun.

"LET GO!" He yelled, as he aimed for the man.

"Or what?" the man smirked and behind him, the waitress from the restaurant was walking towards us.

Gareki gripped his gun tighter and was about to fire when something came falling from in front of us and everything became dusty.
