Chapter 21

He walked into the kitchen and began to make himself some coffee. I could sense him smiling as he leaned over to get the milk.

When I turned my attention back to the girls they had the smug 'we know' look on their faces especially on Laceys' who looked like she had just hit gold. Then a thought hit me. A thought for payback. Oh yes I work that fast.

"So who took their pants off?" I asked Lacey, resting my chin on my arm for the ultimate gossip girl pose.

"Whoa okay I'm outta here" said Alex, desperately trying to get out of the kitchen as fast as he could with a boiling hot cup of coffee.

When he was out of earshot me and Cassie burst out laughing as the look on Lacey's face was pure shame.

I'll get you back for that" she said.

"And then whatever you do I'll get you back for that a million times worse" I replied.

"Okay children" said Cassie, struggling to keep her laughter under control. "Playtime"

"After breakfast" I mumbled as my mouth was full of syrupy pancakes.

After giving me a tour of the whole house, the girls decided that we should go the beach.

"There's a beach around here?" I asked shocked.

"Yep"

"And why was I given a tour of the house but not the beach?" I asked playfully.

Cassie laughed while Lacey looked a little embarrassed.

"Lets go then" said Cassie taking my hand and pulling me towards the door.

"Miss Lucille"

I stopped laughing and shrieking and turned towards the gruff voice. I instantly recognised Alex's father despite never being introduced. He had different hair to Alex but the same blue eyes.

"May I speak with you?"

What he asked was a question but the way he said it came across a bit more as a demand. I nodded and let the girls go.

'Good Luck' they mouthed before I disappeared around the corner.

Mr. Shadows led me through a series of empty corridors I was now familiar with. I silently thanked Lacey for the tour, so that if things got rough I would at least know how to escape the house.

Finally we arrived at a huge oak brown double door. Mr. Shadows opened it and stepped in. I followed suit and he shut it behind me, locking it. Sign 1 that things were going bad.

He turned around and stuck his hand out.

"I believe we haven't been formerly introduced. My name is Damien Shadows, Alex's father"

"I know, I've heard so much about you" I said, giving his hand a weak shake.

"All good I assume"

I faked a smile and replied.

"Of course who would dare speak bad about their previous Alpha?"

Damien grunted like he knew the answer all too well.

"Well my nieces Lacey and Cassie for one" he replied. "But I am not here to discuss them"

"Well what are we here to discuss" I said faking a smile and a friendly laugh.

"We are here to discuss the insulting inappropriate infuriating way that you have treated my son" he replied.

Sign 2 things were going bad.
