I felt elated the minute I stepped through the door. Home! Before I even had chance to react I was embraced by a tall scented figure. Cassie.
"Hi!!" She yelled into my ear.
I stepped away, a big cheesy grin spread across my face and was shocked by how much she had changed. Her features were more defined, her hair was longer and crazier and on her hand was an engagement ring. I gasped and grabbed her hand staring at the ring almost bewitched at its beauty. She giggled at my reaction.
"His name Austin" she proudly declared.
I squealed and gave her a hug squeezing her tight. She let out a choked cough prompting me to back away and giggle.
"How are you feeling?" She asked her voice laced with concern. "Oh those people must've did awful things to you I'm so sorry" she said. "Anytime you want to talk just let me know"
I thought about my time with Liam. Nothing about it was awful, just frustrated and confusing. My heritage popped into my mind and I knew sooner or later I would have to confront my father. I was scared what he would tell me.
"Where's Lacey?" I asked desperate to change the subject.
Cassie's face dropped and I saw Alex shift uncomfortably. Hurt came into her eyes and for a second my heart stopped as my mind told me she was dead.
"She wasn't the same since you were...
Her throat closed up and she began to choke on her words. I put a hand on her shoulder.
"Is she alive?" I asked, tears forming.
She nodded suddenly.
"Let's go see Lacey" I said.
Suddenly the sad expression was gone and in it's place was a smile that screamed plotting. She slapped my arm lightly and laughed.
"No way silly you've got a lot of catching up to do with your husband"
She squealed at the words husband. I laughed and smiled along with her but inside I was squirming in embarrassment. I heard Alex laugh awkwardly. She took a final laugh, a giggle that seemed to brighten the world up, and took off without any notice leaving me alone with Alex.
Without warning he lifted me up into his arms."We have got some catching up to do" he said smiling.
I giggled as he carried me up the stairs and dropped me on the bed."Are you okay?" He asked suddenly.
I sat up and flashed him a smile.
"Yeah of course" I lied. "I've just missed you that's all"
He smiled and slipped a wedding ring on my finger.
"Then let's make up for lost time"
I smiled as we wasted the night away making love and lying in each others arms but niggling away in the back of my mind was this secret about my stupid heritage, I knew it was only a matter of time before things blew up.
